MURFREESBORO --Sasha Snyder threw six scoreless innings in the opener and Sarah Saunders tossed a complete game in the nightcap as Mount Olive College swept Chowan University 7-0 and 6-1 on the softball diamond Thursday evening.

Snyder (2-1) retired six of the final eight batters she faced, yielded four hits and logged three strikeouts. Kristin Ware finished off the Hawks with a scoreless seventh inning.

Saunders (1-0) struck out six Hawks batters and kept Chowan scoreless until the bottom of the sixth inning. The game was called after six innings due to darkness.

In the opener, Ericka Taylor batted 4-for-4 with three RBI.

Mount Olive (6-3-1 overall) seized a 2-0 lead in the top of the third inning as Anna Munizza and Kat Cahoon opened the inning with singles and advanced to second and third on Kelly Minshew's sacrifice. Taylor brought both runners home with a single down the left field line.

The Trojans broke the game open with a five-run, fourth-inning outburst.

In the nightcap, Munizza and Minshew each ripped an RBI double to ignite a three-run, second-inning uprising. Saunders helped her own cause with a third-inning RBI single.

Kennedy added a fourth-inning RBI hit. Cahoon trotted home on Minshew's RBI double in the seventh inning to complete the scoring.

The Trojans return to action next week at the Rebel Spring Games in Orlando, Fla. MOC will play 10 games in a five-day stretch, including Monday contests against University of the Sciences (Pa.) and Mary (N.D.) University.
