Chargers earn All-CPIC recognition

Wayne Country Day senior center Bridgette Briggs was named the Coastal Plains Independent 1-A Conference women's basketball player of the year.

Briggs helped lead the No. 1-ranked Chargers to their second consecutive CPIC regular-season and tournament championships. She was also an integral part of WCDS' final four run in the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association volleyball playoffs.
Joining Briggs on the all-CPIC squad were teammates Brooke Norris, Catherine Ford and Kim Martell. Norris is a senior, while Ford and Martell are underclassmen.
Eric Perry, in his second season at WCDS, was named the league's coach of the year.
The Chargers faced Statesville Christian in the NCISAA 1-A basketball quarterfinals this morning at Charlotte Latin School.
