Suggs, North Pitt roll past Greene Central

All-tournament selection Maketa Suggs poured in a game-high 17 points as North Pitt throttled Greene Central 50-28 for third-place honors in the Eastern Plains 2-A Conference girls' basketball tournament Friday afternoon.
The Panthers (12-13 overall) earned the No. 3 seed for the N.C. High School Athletic Association playoffs, which begin Tuesday. The Rams (11-15) grabbed the No. 4 seed. Both teams will travel for their respective opening-round contests.
Each game tips off at 7 p.m.
Suggs scored 14 points in the final three quarters combined as North Pitt beat Greene Central for the second time this season. The teams concluded regular-season play tied for third place at 4-6 behind Farmville Central.
Shavon Shaw and Latoya Carter provided seven points apiece.
Play-making guard Sharon Spruill contributed five points, five assists and three blocked shots.
Greene Central did not make a fourth-quarter field goal and converted just eight field goals overall in the 32-minute contest. All-tournament pick Shonice Pettaway emerged the Rams' top scorer with 10 points.
Dominique Graham added seven points before fouling out. Brittany Jones provided three points.
