Eastern Wayne baseball ranked No. 5

County archrivals Eastern Wayne and Charles B. Aycock are ranked in the preseason ImpactBaseball.com Class 3-A poll released Monday.
The Warriors, ranked No. 5, recorded a program-best 21 victories under head coach Jabo Fulghum last season and won the Eastern Carolina Conference regular-season championship.
Eastern Wayne will play West Rowan in the annual Impact Invitational on March 7 at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m.
Aycock, the 2007 state 3-A champion, is ranked No. 9.
On the 1-A scene, Princeton is ranked No. 2 behind perennial western power Cherryville.
