ROCKY MOUNT -- Alyssa Hill pumped in a game-high 20 points and third-seeded Faith Christian upset No. 2 Trinity Christian 43-40 in the semifinals of the N.C. Christian Schools Association Coastal 2-A Region tournament Friday.

The Conquerors (12-6 overall) faced Bethel Christian of Kinston for the regional title Saturday morning. Faith Christian also secured a berth for next week's NCCSA 2-A state tournament, which will be played at Oak Level Christian Academy in Stokesdale.

Alyssa Hill recorded a double-double -- 20 points, 10 rebounds -- against Trinity. Madison Caudle added eight points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals.

Lindsey Godwin scored eight points.

Gators dominate

SEVEN SPRINGS -- Melanique DeVeaux provided 10 points and playoff-bound Spring Creek upended archrival North Duplin 54-24 in the Carolina 1-A Conference regular-season finale Friday evening.

Shaquita Brooks and Richelle Butler added nine points apiece for the Gators, who secured their first-ever postseason berth in the program's eight-year history. Brooks also had six rebounds and six assists.

Norman Valentin collected six rebounds.

"My girls have worked hard all season for this one goal," said Gators head coach Mandy Ramfjord. "We have had some close games and we went through some rocky games, but in the end, we pulled together as one."

Spring Creek (4-12 overall) faces fifth-seeded Rosewood in opening-round play of the Carolina Conference tournament Monday at Princeton. Tip-off is 6 p.m.

Chargers roll

Wayne Country Day wrapped its up second consecutive Coastal Plains Independent 1-A Conference regular-season women's basketball crown with a 61-31 romp over Greenfield.

Senior center Bridgette Briggs paced the top-ranked Chargers' offense with 21 points. Senior Brooke Norris added 17 points, while freshman point guard Catherine Ford supplied 11 points.

Sarah Moore led Greenfield with 14 points.

Wayne Country Day (20-2 overall, 6-0 CPIC) returns to action Friday in the CPIC tournament semifinals at Faith Christian-Rocky Mount.

Cougars slip by

Goldsboro seized the Eastern Plains 2-A Conference regular-season championship outright with a 60-55 victory over Farmville Central.

The Cougars (17-7 overall, 9-1 EPC) earned the No. 1 seed for next week's conference tournament and the top slot for the upcoming N.C. High School Athletic Association playoffs.

Goldsboro poured in 23 first-quarter points, and set the tone for the game with pressure defense and transition points. Farmville Central (12-8, 7-3) battled back with a 9-0, second-period run.

But point guard Ki'Ana Williams made sure her team walked away with a win on senior night. The senior tallied a double-double -- 20 points, 10 rebounds -- as Goldsboro claimed its ninth straight EPC win.

Victoria Williams and Akeyanna Whitlor added 14 points apiece. Whitlor also pulled down eight rebounds.

WCS prevails

Hanna Kaler notched a double-double -- 24 points, 17 rebounds -- during Wayne Christian's 62-53 triumph over Cresset Christian in the Carolina Christian 1-A Conference tournament Friday.

Kaitlyn Kosuda added a double-double -- 12 points, 13 rebounds -- for the Eagles, who play either Crossroads or Norlina in the semifinals on Tuesday at Johnston Christian. Julia Oden contributed 14 points, nine rebounds, seven steals and six assists.

Jennifer Price recorded eight points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals. Kayla Kennedy collected a basket, dished out four assists and pulled down five rebounds.

Wayne Christian improved to 14-6 overall.

Dawgs cruise

Tiffine Battle led a balanced offensive attack with 11 points as Princeton cruised past archrival Rosewood 45-26 in the Carolina 1-A Conference regular-season finale Friday evening.

Eleven players scratched in the scoring column for Princeton, which drew the No. 3 seed for the conference tournament. The Dawgs (14-10 overall) entertain winless North Duplin at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.

Brittany Baker supplied six points, while Amber Wood and Ashley Braswell contributed five points apiece. Wood pulled down six rebounds, while the foul-plagued Braswell grabbed five boards.

Nicole Melvin led Princeton with 10 rebounds.

Christina Bruton emerged the Eagles' top scorer with eight points and seven rebounds. Shantal Johnson chipped in six points and 10 rebounds. Senior guard Paige Babb provided five points and eight rebounds.

Rosewood (5-16) faces Spring Creek at 6 p.m. on Monday at Princeton.

Boys' basketball

Eagles grounded

DURHAM -- Colton Woods emerged the lone player in double figures with 13 points as Wayne Christian suffered a 97-33 loss to top-seeded Cresset in the Carolina Christian 1-A Conference men's tournament Friday.

Woods pulled down eight rebounds for the Eagles, who concluded the year 8-14 overall. Taylor Johnson and Bradley Yelverton added five points apiece.

Justin Braithwaite collected five rebounds and blocked four shots.

Gators triumph

SEVEN SPRINGS -- Senior center Lucas Potter tallied a game-high 22 points as Spring Creek topped North Duplin 62-57 in the Carolina 1-A Conference regular-season finale Friday evening.

Anthony Green added 15 points for the Gators, who will entertain the Rebels again Tuesday in opening-round play of the season-ending conference tournament. Tip-off is 7:30 p.m.

James Kornegay led North Duplin (0-18 overall, 0-10 Carolina) with 18 points. Marcus Kornegay contributed 11 points, while Devin Oliver scored nine points.

JV sports

* Boys' basketball: Princeton 85, Rosewood 84 (OT) -- Aaron Simpkins pumped in a team-high 25 points for the Dawgs, who closed out their Carolina 1-A Conference season with a victory Friday. C.J. Jeffreys added 19 points. Javonte Davis and Justin Foy contributed 13 and 10 points, respectively. Rosewood's Zach Thornton drilled the nets for a game-high 28 points, while Garrett Burns knocked down 27. Shane Whitley provided 13 points and Will Winslow chipped in nine points. The Eagles (6-15, 4-6 Carolina) converted 34 of 48 free throws. Princeton (12-7, 7-3) was accurate on 13 of 21 attempts from the charity stripe.

Middle schools
