BANNER ELK -- Mount Olive's Tomeka Prichard converted a three-point play with 47 seconds left and capped a come-from-behind, 67-64 victory over in-state rival Lees-McRae on Saturday afternoon.
Prichard led four Trojans in double figures with 14 points. Jasmine Whitby notched her second consecutive double-double -- 13 points, 11 rebounds -- as Mount Olive claimed its fourth straight win. Rashonda Speed added 11 points, while Brittney Robich just missed a double-double with 10 points and career-high nine rebounds.
The Trojans (10-3 overall, 6-2 CC) tied the game midway through the second half. The Bobcats regained an eight-point lead, 63-55, with just over two minutes remaining in regulation.
Two Whitby free throws and Prichard's basket, after Robich forced a held ball, closed the gap to one possession.
After an LMC free throw, Whitby again drained two free throws. Prichard's rebound set up the winning points -- her conventional three-point play after getting fouled on a short jumper.
Mount Olive came up with a defensive stop and Robich's two free throws extended the lead to three points. The Bobcats (5-8, 3-5) missed two field goal attempts on their final possession and Brittany Miller pulled down her career-best 13th rebound to seal the win.
The Trojans return to action at home Monday against in-state foe Queens University of Charlotte. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Kornegay Arena.
