Wildlife workshop to be held

RALEIGH -- An upcoming workshop at the Centennial Campus Center for Wildlife Education will look at hunting as a tradition, a conservation tool and its role in modern society.

The interactive course is from 4-8 p.m. on Jan. 16 and will briefly look at the history of hunting and the North American model of wildlife conservation. There will be discussion of the concepts -- and controversies -- of modern hunting and today's hunter. The presenter will be Deet James, the state's hunting heritage biologist, who will also lead an interactive laser-shot target range.

Pre-registration is required. Environmental Education Certification credit is available. This workshop should not be confused with the statewide Hunter Education course, which is required for first-time hunting licenses.

The Centennial Campus Center for Wildlife Education is located at 1751 Varsity Drive, Raleigh, in the headquarters of the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission on the Centennial Campus of N.C. State University.
