ELIZABETH CITY -- Brittany Miller and Tomeka Prichard shared game-high scoring honors with 16 points apiece as Mount Olive College defeated Elizabeth City State 88-70 on Monday evening.

Miller, who established a career high, scored 14 points on 7 of 7 shooting in the second half. Jasmine Whitby contributed 15 points, including six in a game-opening 11-0 run, during her first-ever collegiate start. Whitby replaced starting forward Helen Moore, who suffered a knee injury in practice last week.

Brittney Robich tallied 10 of her 13 points in the second half, giving Mount Olive four players in double figures. Alisa Jones and Shequanta McGee each flirted with a double-double. Jones collected eight points and nine rebounds. McGee recorded eight points, eight assists and picked the Vikings for three steals.

Prichard and Whitby dished out four assists apiece. Miller provided a team-high four steals.

The Trojans (6-1 overall) held Elizabeth City State scoreless nearly five minutes into the game as a pair of steals by Miller and a blocked shot by Prichard sparked the Trojan defense in the early going. The Vikings (1-7) got on the scoreboard with 15:24 left in the opening half on Briana Glover's jumper.

Elizabeth City State pulled within six points, but Robich's 3-pointer ignited a 9-0 run and Laporsha Davis' putback extended the Trojans' lead to 22-7 with 11:29 remaining. Miller and Prichard each had a steal during the run as the margin stayed in double figures the remainder of the half.

Mount Olive forced 20 first-half turnovers.

The Vikings climbed within single digits after Kearah Jeffreys hit a jumper with 14:08 remaining to make the score 49-41. The Trojans' Miller and Robich combined for 17 points in a game-breaking 21-5 run.

Mount Olive shot 55.2 percent from the field, including 65.5 percent (19-for-29) in the second half.

The Trojans return to action Saturday at Conference Carolinas foe Limestone (S.C.) College. Tip-off is 5:30 p.m.
