ROBERSONVILLE -- Goldsboro found their offensive focus early and kept up the intensity as they routed Edenton Holmes 89-45 in the opening round of the Roanoke Christmas Tournament on Monday evening.

Demetrio Irby poured in 29 points to lead the Cougar attack. Donald Lewis added 18 points and Michael Langston finished with 13 points. Rasean Brewington rounded out the Cougars' double-figures scorers with 10 points.

Goldsboro (9-5 overall) will play tournament host Roanoke tonight in the championship game of the tournament. Tip-off is slated for 8:30 p.m.

Meanwhile, Princeton got off to a slow start and never recovered in a 77-65 loss to Roanoke.

The Redskins grabbed a 17-8 first-quarter lead and never faltered.

David Gurganus and Andre Nixon paced the Dawgs' attack with 17 points apiece. Nixon also grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds. Benton Myers added eight points in the loss.

Aaron Baker scored a game-high 20 points to lead the Redskins' offense. Tavion Shepherd chipped in 10 points.

Princeton (4-8) faces Holmes at 6:30 p.m.
