JACKSONVILLE -- Southern Wayne had four players reach double figures as they seized a 62-52, non-conference hoops victory over Northside on Monday night.

Dwight Smith paced the balanced Saints' attack with 12 points. Justin Artis, Javaris McMillan and Rashard Hill each scored 10 points respectively.

Desmond Raiford dished out a career-best seven assists.

Southern Wayne (4-3 overall) will travel to North Lenoir on Wednesday night, then host county rival Goldsboro on Friday.

WCS bested

ROCKY MOUNT -- Faith Christian of Rocky Mount shut down Wayne Christian's offense with some early full-court pressure and went on to defeat the Eagles 68-45 on Monday night.

Luke Howell led the Wayne Christian attack with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Colton Woods added seven points and 10 boards.

Faith of Rocky Mount was paced by 21 points from Clayton Kelly.

The Eagles (2-6 overall) will travel to Northwood Temple on Friday.

Faith falls

KINSTON -- Bethel Christian used some hot fourth quarter shooting to power past Faith Christian 61-44 on Monday night.

David Sladick led the Conquerors with 10 points. Brandon Floars added eight points in the loss.

Faith Christian fell to 5-3 overall.

Rebels dropped

NEWTON GROVE -- Hobbton used a red-hot offense to topple North Duplin 72-53 in non-conference action.

Marcus Kornegay and Quentin Graham each scored 14 points to pace the Rebels. Xavier Lee contributed nine points.

The Wildcats were led by Jamar Williams, Mallard Newkirk and Hassan Barfield. All three players scored 12 points respectively.

North Duplin (0-2 overall) travels to Lakewood tonight.

Girls' basketball

N. Duplin falls

NEWTON GROVE -- North Duplin dropped a 54-28 non-conference decision at Hobbton on Friday.

Tearra Ammons paced the Rebels with 13 points and Skylar McCarty and April Jones each had four.

Niesha Lewis led Hobbton with 16 points.

North Duplin (0-2 overall) visits Lakewood today and entertains Hobbton on Friday.

Eagles win

ROCKY MOUNT -- Wayne Christian continued its hot start to the regular season with a 39-37 victory over Faith Christian of Rocky Mount on Monday night.

The Eagles (5-2 overall) were led by Julia Oden with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Alaina Moore added seven points and six boards while Kayla Kennedy chipped in eight points.

Wayne Christian is the guest of Northwood Temple on Friday.

* Boys' basketball: Faith Christian of Rocky Mount 68, Wayne Christian 54 -- Gregory Alexander paced the Eagles with 21 points and four rebounds. Chase King chipped in a double-double with 10 points and 10 boards. Cameron Malinofski and Chase Darden each scored six points respectively for Wayne Christian (4-4 overall).

* Boys' basketball: Faith Christian 42, Bethel Christian 35 -- Brandon Jones led the Conquerors with 11 points. Wes Caudle added 10 points as Faith Christian improved to 3-1 overall on the season.

* Boys' basketball: Southern Wayne 63, Northside 44 -- Tony Smith pumped in 14 points, while Bernard Gross added 11 points. Delfawn Worrells provided 10 points. Southern Wayne (5-1 overall) visits North Lenoir on Wednesday.

* Girls' basketball: Wayne Christian 23, Faith Christian of Rocky Mount 14 -- Brooke Barfield led the Eagles with nine points. Niki Fitzmorris and Britney O'Hara controlled the boards with 11 rebounds apiece. Courtney Barrow and O'Hara each had five steals.

Middle schools

* Boys' basketball: Eastern Wayne 55, Dillard 29 -- Lee Atkinson led the balanced Warrior offense with 11 points. Anton Williams added ten markers and DaShon Boseman comtributed nine points. Shaquan Williams and Angelo Burten each scored five points for Dillard. Eastern Wayne improved to 4-1 overall.

* Boys' basketball: Greenwood 40, Norwayne 30 -- Greenwood was led by 12 points from Jaelen Johnson and 10 points from Quaviis Holloman. Keron Howell chipped in nine points and nine rebounds in the victory. Michael Williams paced Norwayne with 11 points.

* Girls' basketball: Eastern Wayne 30, Dillard 27 -- Kaceia Exum sank a game-clinching foul shot with just seconds remaining to seal the victory for Eastern Wayne. Exum finished with 11 points in the game. Divonnie Powell added seven points for the Warriors (5-0 overall). Shakira Campell led Dillard with a game-high 17 points.

* Girls' basketball: Rosewood 28, Mount Olive 20 -- Logan Beil and Amanda Becker each scored eight points for the Eagles. Danielle Cornman added seven points. Rosewood improved to 2-2 overall.
