Ki'Ana Williams scored a game-high 17 points to lead Goldsboro past Charles B. Aycock 51-40 on Tuesday evening.

Alysanna Whitley added 12 points for the Cougars (2-1) and Zeara McDuffie pitched in 10.

Goldsboro used runs of 7-0 and 6-0 in the third quarter to build a 39-28 lead entering the final period.

Camille Williams led the Golden Falcons (0-2) with 12 points. Aycock faces Hoggard at 11 a.m. on Friday in the Goldsboro Thanksgiving Tournament.

Goldsboro hosts Wilmington Laney at 2 p.m.

Chargers now 6-0

Wayne Country Day remained unbeaten by defeating Rosewood 58-19 in "The Nest" on Tuesday night.

Ahead 8-4 in the opening quarter, Wayne Country Day embarked on a 15-0 run that essentially sealed the Eagles fate.

Brooke Norris created several turnovers with stingy pressure defense and turned her transition opportunities into 15 points. Catherine Ford also scored 15 points for the Chargers, and grabbed eight rebounds. Bridgette Briggs chipped in 13 points and eight boards.

In their six victories, the Chargers (6-0 overall) have just allowed 19 points per game.

Rosewood (0-1) was led by six points from Paige Babb. Forward Shantay Johnson contributed five points and a team-high seven rebounds before leaving early in the fourth quarter with a leg injury.

WCS suffers defeat

ERWIN -- Wayne Christian was handed its first Carolina Christian 1-A Conference loss of the season, 44-37, at Cape Fear Christian on Tuesday evening.

Kayla Kennedy led the Eagles with 10 points, six rebounds and two steals. Devan Isenhower contributed nine points and five rebounds and Hanna Kaler chipped in eight points, 11 rebounds and two steals.

Kaitlyn Kosuda had six points, five rebounds and three assists and Carly Hightower provided four points, seven rebounds and four assists.

Wayne Christian (2-2 overall, 0-1 CCC) will play host to Crossroads Christian on Dec. 1.

Midway tops SC

SEVEN SPRINGS -- A rough night from the free throw line was Spring Creek's undoing in a 50-46 home loss to Midway on Tuesday evening.

The Gators shot just 14 for 31 from the charity stripe. Melanquie DeVeaux led Spring Creek with 13 points, 10 rebounds and two steal. Shaquita Brooks finished with 13 points, 10 rebounds a steal and a block. Richelle Butler contributed eight points and four rebounds and Norma Valentin had seven points and 10 rebounds.

The Gators host Union on Dec. 1.

Boys basketball

PHS falls at home

PRINCETON -- Raleigh Charter slipped out of the Dawg House with a 41-35 win over Princeton on Tuesday.

David Gurganus led the Bulldogs (1-2 overall) with 14 points and Andre Nixon added six points and 15 rebounds. Patrick Jacobs had five points, T.J. Wilson chipped in three and Dylan Daughtry provided two.

Princeton hosts the Eastern N.C. School for the Deaf on Dec. 2.

* Boys' basketball: Goldsboro 61, C.B. Aycock 51 -- Michael Sawyer paced the Cougars (2-1 overall) with 14 points, Actavius Austin added 11 and Adan Hobbs contributed 10. Goldsboro visits Eastern Wayne on Tuesday. Sheperd Whitfield led the Golden Falcons with 11 and Tyson Pearson had 11. Aycock (1-1) travels to North Lenoir on Tuesday.
