* Football: North Pitt 16, Goldsboro 14 -- North Pitt stopped Goldsboro on fourth-and-one from the Panthers 8-yard line with 1:07 remaining in the game to seal the victory. After North Pitt (8-2) scored and added a two-point conversion to take a 16-14 lead, the Cougars (7-3) took over from their own 15-yard line with just over 10 minutes remaining. Willie Sutton finished with 120 yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries for Goldsboro. Cortez Sprangle led the defense with 12 tackles, Willie Sutton provided 10 and Lavan Black chipped in seven.

* Football: C.B. Aycock 20, Southern Wayne 12 -- Artemius Taylor paced the Golden Falcons offense with 110 yards on the ground and a touchdown. Marquis Bryant contributed 53 yards rushing and quarterback Tyler Farmer had 59 yards on the ground and 28 more through the air and a touchdown. Caleb Scott led the defense with 13 tackles. Elijah Murray added 12 tackles and Austin Willoughby turned in 11. Aycock ended its season with a 6-4 record including a 3-2 mark in Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference play. Jaquan Cobb scored from three yards out for the Saints and Quintin Smith provided a 3-yard rushing touchdown. Smith added 95 yards through the air and Moses Ramsey accounted for 65 yards receiving. Taylor Brock chipped in 25 yards receiving and Dylan Jacobs made nine tackles on defense. Tobius Flow recorded eight tackles. Southern Wayne ended its season at 5-5 and 2-3 in the ECC.

Neuse River Youth football

* Mount Olive Hurricanes 21, Eastern Wayne Wee Warriors 20 -- Nathan Barwick recorded 11 tackles to lead Mount Olive (9-0) to the Neuse River Division I championship. Clayton Cashwell scored two touchdowns and a pair of two-point and Tarvis Bradshaw added a touchdown and 90 yards rushing. Eastern Wayne concluded its season at 7-2.

Correction

In Thursday's edition of the News-Argus, the C.B. Aycock Little Falcons quarterback was misidentified.

The player was Jake Flowers, who helped the Little Falcons claim the Neuse River Football League 9-10-year-old championship.
