SEVEN SPRINGS -- Spring Creek continued its rebuilding process with a 46-6 loss to Class 1-A Carolina Conference rival North Johnston at "The Swamp" on Friday evening.
DeVonte Harris led the Gator offense with 101 yards rushing and 29 yards receiving. Harris also had the only Spring Creek touchdown on a third quarter reception.
"We have tried to get DeVonte into some situations where he has room to move," said Gators head coach Aaron Sanders. "He had 125 yards on Monday night against Rosewood, and 101 tonight, and that says a lot about how our offense has grown."
In the passing game, quarterback Nick Hatem completed 10 of 20 passes for 140 yards and a touchdown.
"We knew that we had to start completing more passes to open things up," said Sanders. "Teams were putting nine and 10 guys in the box, and making us run at them, now they at least have to respect the pass."
John Mozingo drove the Gator defense with six tackles. Will Janning added four stops.
"I know that the scoreboard doesn't always show it, but I think this team is playing better than they were at the beginning of the season," said Sanders. "We have to continue to build on what we've done and continue to improve."
Spring Creek (0-10, 0-4) concludes regular-season play Friday at North Duplin. Kickoff is 7:30 p.m. at H.E. Grubbs Field.
