* Football: C.B. Aycock 38, Eastern Wayne 28 -- Marquis Bryant finished with 189 yards and three touchdowns on 28 carries for the Golden Falcons. Antonio Applewhite tacked on 119 yards and a score and Artemius Taylor added 101 yards on 13 carries. Tyler Farmer chipped in a rushing touchdown to go along with 45 yards on the ground as the Golden Falcons compiled 473 yards of total offense. Caleb Scott and Austin Willoughby led the Aycock defense with five tackles apiece. Ryan Jones racked up 185 yards rushing and two touchdowns for the Warriors. Jalon Barnes connected with Brian Castelow on a 55-yard touchdown pass and Donald Williams recorded an interception. Eastern Wayne (2-6, 1-3 ECC) hosts Kinston in its season finale next Thursday and Aycock entertains Southern Wayne.
* Football: Goldsboro 20, North Lenoir 0 -- Mike Sawyer, Xavier Knight and Anthony Williams each contributed rushing touchdowns for the Cougars. Goldsboro's defense made a pair of goal line stands in the fourth quarter. Octavius Thompson led the defense with 10 tackles, Willie Sutton added eight and Williams and T.O. West each had seven.
* Football: Southern Wayne 40, Wilson Hunt 34 (OT) -- Southern Wayne's defense made a key fourth down stop in overtime and Jaquan Cobb scored the game-winning touchdown. Cobb finished with 193 yards rushing and two scores and added a kickoff return for a score. Quintae Brashaw pitched in 157 yards on the ground and a touchdown and quarterback Quintin Smith added an 18-yard touchdown run. The Saints (5-4, 2-2 ECC) conclude their season at Charles B. Aycock next Thursday.
Middle schools
* Football: Eastern Wayne 20, Norwayne 16 -- Brandon Roseboro scored on the ground for the Warriors and Grayson Wells tossed a pair of touchdown passes to Nolan James. Eastern Wayne (4-3 overall) fell to 1-2 in WCMSAC Division Iplay.
* Volleyball: Norwayne d. Eastern Wayne 19-25, 25-17, 25-15, 25-7 -- Amber Rose led Norwayne with 15 points on serve and Madison Mercer and Emily Martin each recorded 10. Norwayne (14-0, 6-0 WCMSAC Division I) completed its fifth consecutive undefeated season and won its 65th straight game.
* Volleyball: Rosewood d. Spring Creek 23-25, 25-16, 25-21, 25-20 -- Holly Heath served 20 aces for the Eagles and Ellen Morgan provided five kills. Rosewood (11-3, 8-0 WCMSAC Division II) captured the WCMSAC Division II conference title.
