KENLY -- Rosewood's offense never got on track and the Eagles struggled to slow down North Johnston in a 42-6 Carolina 1-A Conference loss on Friday evening.
The Panthers (3-5, 2-0) racked up 370 yards on the ground and led 28-0 at halftime. Grey Bruton scored on a 58-yard run and North Johnston added an interception return for a touchdown. The Panthers had four scores of 55 yards or more.
"Defensively it was more competitive than what the score would show," said Eagles head coach Robert Britt. "We played well at times defensively. Offensively, North Johnston did a good job of hemming up everything we tried to do. I feel like the boys improved (Friday) night from where we've been the last couple of weeks and hopefully that gives us some confidence going against Spring Creek next week."
Josh Holme's scored Rosewood's (1-7, 0-2) lone touchdown late in the fourth quarter.
