MOUNT OLIVE -- Marie Richters recorded her first collegiate hat trick and Lyndsay Brennan added two goals and three assists as Mount Olive had its highest scoring output of the season with a 7-0 victory over Coker (S.C.) College in a Conference Carolinas women's soccer match Wednesday at Amon Field.

Brennan became the second player in Trojan women's soccer history to score at least 40 career goals and moved into second place on the MOC career points list. Brennan, who has scored a goal in each of her last three matches, now has 41 career goals and 25 career assists for 107 points. Brennan moved past April Jacobs in career points and moved ahead of Emily Escolas into fourth place in career assists.

Gina Dos Santos is the Trojans' career scoring leader with 48 goals and 123 points.

Richters' hat trick is the Trojans' first since Dos Santos scored three goals last year against Southern Virginia. Richters is the fourth freshman in Trojan women's soccer history to record a hat trick in a game.

Mount Olive (5-10-0 overall, 3-4-0 Conference Carolinas) jumped out to an early lead on Coker (3-9-0, 2-5-0) when Brennan hooked up with Jackie Jimenez for a goal in the first two minutes. Brennan played the ball from midfield to a cutting Jimenez who scored from 15 yards out. The next two goals came from Richters via Brennan in the next 20 minutes.

Brennan got her first goal one minute after Richters' second goal on a pass from Alyecia Higgins from 30 yards out. Before the first half ended, Melissa Shepherd played a ball out from inside the Mount Olive third that reached Nia Celata in the Coker third and found its way to Pattie Adkins, who scored from 10 yards out. The Trojans went up 5-0 at halftime.

Trojan goalkeepers Lyndsey McIntyre and Jenn Sastre each played 45 minutes, recording one save apiece. Mount Olive outshot Coker 20-3.

After being limited to one goal per game in its first 13 matches, Mount Olive has exploded for 10 goals in its last two matches.

"All of our frustrations from the beginning of the season collided with our passion and BOOM! We scored seven goals tonight," said Brennan, a senior from Springfield, Va.

Mount Olive is home Saturday against Converse (S.C.) College. Kickoff is 7 p.m. and the game is part of the Trojans' "Pink for the Cure" campaign in conjunction with National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Donations will be accepted for Susan G. Komen for the Cure, a non-profit organization dedicated to the cure and prevention of breast cancer.
