Saints' Hirsch collects second ECC singles title

SNOW HILL -- Tara Hirsch is a singles champion again.
The Southern Wayne senior captured her second Class 3-A Eastern Carolina Conference crown with a 6-0, 6-1 decision over teammate Amber Bowden on Thursday afternoon.
The top-seeded Hirsch and Bowden will advance to the N.C. High School Athletic Association eastern regionals next week at Barton College. Also qualifying in singles were Hunt's Kiona Love and Eastern Wayne's Miller Delbridge.
In doubles, Eastern Wayne's tandem of Lindsey Frederick-Molly Musgrave turned back teammates Danielle Daniel-Kelsi Yates 6-2, 6-3. Hunt's Madison Cauley- Tyson claimed third with a 6-1, 6-3 triumph over Charles B. Aycock's Kristen Fischer-Hollie Baker.
All four doubles will advance to the regionals.
