LaGRANGE -- North Lenoir captured the Class 2-A Eastern Plains Conference regular-season volleyball title with a 25-20, 25-13, 25-11 win over visiting Greene Central on Thursday.

Marissa Lanier hammered out 12 kills and Courtney Hill added 11 kills. Jordan Hudson handed out 37 assists and Kristen Davenport chipped in five kills. Jessica Kennedy and Enjoli Mason had three digs each.

The Hawks (21-0 overall, 10-0 EPC) will play host to a semifinal-round tournament game on Tuesday.

Gators sweep Rebels

SEVEN SPRINGS -- Spring Creek concluded regular-season play with a 25-19, 25-19, 25-19 sweep of Carolina 1-A Conference opponent North Duplin on Thursday.

In her final home contest, senior Kristin Smith paced the Gators with 17 kills, four service aces, two blocks and two digs. Fellow senior Shaquita Brooks finished with five kills, two blocks, two digs and an ace.

"Kristin Smith's presence really made a difference on the court," said Spring Creek head coach Deanna Morris. "She is very talented, and we will hate to see her and Shaquita graduate."

Randi Oxendine provided 19 assists, nine aces, three kills and two digs. Senior Shaquita Brooks finished with five kills, two blocks, two digs and an ace. Brittany Collier added three aces, three assists and two digs and Alex Benton had three aces, three kills and two digs.

Tearra Ammons led the Rebels with five kills and two blocks. Sam Cates contributed three kills and seven assists, while Felicia Lynch chipped in three aces and three assists.

Scarlett Martin pounded out five kills.

Both teams begin Carolina Conference tournament play Monday.

Warriors victorious

Eastern Wayne capped its senior night with a 25-22, 25-20, 16-25, 25-20 Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference victory over Kinston on Thursday.

Caitlin Turner finished with eight kills and six aces.

Anna Hajjar recorded seven kills.

The Warriors (3-13 overall, 3-7 ECC) return to action Monday in the season-ending conference tournament.

Soccer

Saints fall short

WILSON -- Southern Wayne rallied from a 2-0 halftime deficit but fell just short in a 3-2 loss at Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference foe Wilson Beddingfield on Thursday.

The Saints' Jesus Rodriguez scored twice for the second time in as many nights for his ninth and 10th goals of the season.

Southern Wayne (3-9 overall, 2-6 ECC) visits co-league leader and state-ranked Wilson Hunt on Monday.

JV sports

* Football: Wilson Beddingfield 35, C.B. Aycock 14 -- Marquis Bryant gained 104 yards on 24 carries to go with two touchdowns for the Golden Falcons. Elijah Murray led the defense with seven tackles and Caleb Scott added five.

* Volleyball: North Lenoir d. Greene Central 25-18, 25-17 -- Heidi Milliken recorded 11 points on serve and Jenna Rouse added nine. Darrylanne Radford had eight points on serve and Molly McKinley contributed two kills. North Lenoir (12-1 overall, 7-1 EPC) claimed the Eastern Plains 2-A Conference regular-season championship.

* Volleyball: North Duplin d. Spring Creek 25-22, 19-25, 25-15 -- Tearra Ammons led the Rebels (6-8, 4-6 Carolina 1-A) with seven kills and three digs. Hannah Brock finished with six assists, six aces and a kill. Ansley Hill tallied seven aces and two assists and Alonna Pate had four aces, three kills and a dig. Kelsey Rogers turned in six kills and an ace for the Gators and Lucy Avila tallied seven assists and an ace. Mitzi Artega added four kills, three aces and a block.

Middle schools

* Football: Eastern Wayne 16, Grantham 0 -- Derrick Daniels scored on a pair of touchdown runs. Eastern Wayne (3-0 overall) hosts Greenwood next Thursday.

* Football: Greenwood 32, Mount Olive 8 -- Jalen Spruiel, Halice Floyd, Aquan Buckner and Calvin Coley each scored touchdowns for Greenwood. Grant Hruby tacked on the extra points. Greenwood (3-1 overall) travels to Eastern Wayne next Thursday.

* Volleyball: Spring Creek d. Brogden 25-4, 25-13, 25-13 -- Dorothy Brooks finished with two digs and two kills for Spring Creek. Abby Sutton chipped in two aces, and Grecia Aguirre, Karen Best and Hannah Keel each had an ace. Spring Creek (6-3 overall, 3-2) hosts Mount Olive on Monday.

* Volleyball: Rosewood d. Dillard 22-25, 25-10, 25-15 25-4 (match) 1; 25-18, 19-25, 25-10 (match 2) -- Holly Heath recorded 26 aces for the Eagles. Amanda Beckert pounded out 16 kills and Scout Anderson pitched in 10 aces. Rosewood (7-1 overall, 4-0) hosts Eastern Wayne on Monday.
