ERWIN -- Wayne Christian claimed the Class 1-A Carolina Christian Conference regular-season women's tennis championship with a 7-2 victory over Cape Fear Christian.
The Eagles (7-1 overall) finished 4-0 in CCC play this season.
Brooke Barfield, Faith Sutton, Reagan Hinton, Samantha Reaves, Jentry Carlyle and Savannah Sutton each seized a singles point. The teams played pro (eight-game) sets.
In doubles, Barfield-Sutton emerged victorious.
Volleyball
Faith drops Neuse
RALEIGH -- Kaitlyn Floars and Madison Caudle each finished with eight kills to lead Faith Christian to a 25-16, 25-22, 25-18 victory over N.C. Christian Schools Association Coastal Region 2-A foe Neuse Christian.
Brooke Anderson contributed four digs and three kills and setter Rebecca Smith chipped in seven assists and four aces.
The Conquerors (6-4 overall, 6-3 NCCSA 2-A) visit Falls Road today.
Correction
In Friday's edition of the News-Argus, it was incorrectly reported that Megan Roberts won a tennis match for Southern Wayne against county rival Charles B. Aycock.
It was actually Morgan Roberts.

Youth sports
* Soccer -- Eureka Rage 4, Grantham 1 -- Jamison Richards, Aquavis Spruill, Miguel Constanido and Dalton Grimmer each scored for the Rage. Grimmer has a team-leading 10 goals. Richards, Spruill and Constanido have two goals apiece this season. The Rage (3-1-1 overall) plays at home Friday.
