Eastern Wayne outshot North Lenoir 30-3 and earned a 4-0, non-conference victory at Little Big Horn on Thursday evening.

Sang Kim scored on an assist from Richard Riddle in the 27th minute and Nick Baker's goal on a direct kick from 20 yards out in the 43rd minute gave the Warriors a 2-0 halftime lead.

Kim scored off another Riddle assist in the 46th minute and Alex Henson finished the scoring the in 73rd minute.

Eastern Wayne (5-5 overall) entertains Wilson Hunt on Monday.

WCS prevails

WILSON -- Wayne Christian snapped Community Christian's six-game winning streak with a 2-0, Carolina Christian 1-A Conference win on Thursday.

Kyle Sasser scored on a cross from Jordan Crouthamel less than two minutes into the ballgame. Gregory Alexander extended the lead on a cross from Crouthamel with less than 15 minutes left in the first half.

The Eagles (10-6, 6-3 CCC) begin conference tournament play next week.

RW, Union draw

CLINTON -- Rosewood allowed a pair of late second half goals as Union rallied for a 2-2 tie on Thursday evening.

Cody Harris scored twice for the Eagles. Brett Robinson and Giavani Mateos each had assists. Will Grantham finished with five saves in goal.

Rosewood (0-6-3 overall) begins Carolina 1-A Conference play at Ayden-Grifton on Monday.

Volleyball

Hawks coast

LaGRANGE -- North Lenoir remained unbeaten with a 25-12, 25-15, 25-18 victory over Eastern Plains 2-A Conference opponent North Pitt on Thursday.

Jordan Hudson handed out 35 assists and Marrisa Lanier finished with 15 kills. Kristen Davenport added four kills.

The Hawks (19-0 overall, 8-0 EPC) travel to Goldsboro on Tuesday.

Cougars stumble

Farmville Central handed Goldsboro a 19-25, 16-25, 12-25 setback in Eastern Plains 2-A Conference play on Thursday.

Millicent Kornegay led the Cougars with three aces, two blocks and two kills.

Goldsboro (0-17 overall) entertains North Lenoir on Tuesday.

Rebels fall

AYDEN -- North Duplin suffered its second straight defeat in the form of a 11-25, 17-25, 23-25 setback at Carolina 1-A Conference opponent Ayden-Grifton on Thursday.

Sam Cates contributed eight assists, three kills and two digs for the Rebels. Felicia Lynch provided four aces and three assists. Scarlett Martin added four kills and Katlyn Eloshway pitched in four digs. Tearra Ammons had two kills and a block and Katie Swanzey finished with one ace and a kill.

North Duplin (3-5 overall, 5-7 Carolina 1-A) hosts Rosewood on Tuesday.

Hunt downs CBA

WILSON -- Charles B. Aycock fell 15-25, 24-26, 23-25 at Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference opponent Wilson Hunt on Thursday.

Beth Carter had 10 kills, Camille Williams added seven kills and Victoria Benton pitched in five aces.

The Golden Falcons (6-8 overall, 4-4 ECC) host Eastern Wayne on Tuesday.

NJ outlasts PHS

KENLY -- League-leading North Johnston outlasted Princeton 26-24, 23-25, 25-22, 16-25, 15-12 on Thursday.

Devon Murphy recorded 13 kills, six digs, two aces and an assist for the Bulldogs. Ashley Braswell finished with 16 kills, two aces and an assist. Erin Shultz turned in 22 assists, five kills and an ace.

Princeton (9-5 overall, 3-4 Carolina 1-A) hosts Ayden-Grifton on Tuesday.

Tennis

Rams stomp FC

SNOW HILL -- Eastern Plains 2-A Conference regular-season champion Greene Central finished off conference play in convincing fashion with a 9-0 rout Farmville Central on Thursday.

Elizabeth McLawhorn, Samantha Taylor, Jessica Gray, Abby Sugg, Abbey Dail and Candace Ingalls were each victorious in singles play.

The doubles tandems of Taylor-Sugg, Gray-Dail and McLawhorn-Ingalls also earned wins.

"I'm very proud of this group of girls," Rams head coach Donald Clark said. "They have come a long way since the beginning of the season. The have been ranked No. 3 in the state in 2-A throughout the season and they are undefeated against 2-A competition despite the fact that we have three new starters this season."

Greene Central (16-2 overall, 8-0 EPC) plays host to the EPC tournament next Monday and Tuesday. Matches begin at 3 p.m. each day.

CBA turns back SW

PIKEVILLE -- Charles B. Aycock defeated Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference rival Southern Wayne 6-3 on Thursday.

Kristen Fischer, Hollie Baker, Abbey Strickland and Harlie Howard each earned singles wins for the Golden Falcons. Tara Hirsch and Megan Roberts picked up singles victories for the Saints.

The doubles teams of Fischer-Baker and Howell-Strickland were winners for Aycock (9-6 overall, 8-2 ECC). Amber Bowden-Jessica Best recorded a doubles victory for Southern Wayne.

The ECC conference tournament begins next Wednesday at Greene Central.

Gators win two

SEVEN SPRINGS -- Spring Creek defeated Carolina 1-A Conference foe Ayden-Grifton twice on Thursday.

The Gators won the completion of a suspended match 5-1 and then captured a regularly scheduled match 8-1.

Jamie Johnson, Rachel Lewis, Janna Kutsch, Ivey Best and Lauren Player each won a pair of singles matches for Spring Creek. The doubles pairs of Johnson-Lewis, Best-Jessica Pittman and Kutsch-Lewis were victorious in match two.

The Gators (10-1 overall) will face North Johnston on Monday at Rosewood in a match that was rained out earlier in the week. If Spring Creek is victorious it would claim the regular season conference title outright. A loss would create first-place tie between the Gators and Panthers that would be decided by a coin toss to determine the No. 1 seed for the conference tournament.

Warriors pound Vikings

Eastern Wayne cruised past Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference opponent Kinston 9-0 on Thursday.

Danielle Daniel, Lindsey Frederick, Mollie Musgrave, Kelsi Yates, Miller Delbridge and Elizabeth Borden each earned singles victories.

The teams of Frederick-Musgrave, Daniel-Yates and Emily Northington-Borden each won in doubles action.

The Warriors (13-1 overall, 10-0 ECC) begin ECC tournament play at Greene Central on Wednesday.

Cross country

Magnus, Price prevail

HENDERSON -- Wayne Christian's Josh Magnus and Jennifer Price finished first in the boys' and girls' races, respectively, as the Eagles competed in a meet with host Kerr-Vance Academy on Thursday along with Northern Vance, Granville Central and Faith of Rocky Mount.

Magnus finished in a time of 18 minutes, 12 second -- just ahead of teammate Justin Brathwaite, who completed the course in 19:08. Connor Jones also finished in the top-10 with a fifth place finish.

Northern Vance was first on the boys' side with a team score of 31 ahead of Wayne Christian's 38. Kerr-Vance compiled a mark of 93, Granville Central earned a 98 and Faith of Rocky Mount was fifth at 100.

Price set a new Wayne Christian record with a time of 21:59. Kayla Kennedy was the second-highest finishing Eagles runner in 15th place.

Northern Vance tallied a team score of 59. Faith of Rocky Mount was second with a 65, Granville Central earned a 73 and Kerr-Vance was fourth at 74. Wayne Christian finished fifth with a team score of 107.

The Eagles host the Wayne Christian Invitational at 4 p.m. today at Cliffs of the Neuse.

JV sports

* Volleyball: North Lenoir d. North Pitt 15-25, 25-8, 25-18 -- The Hawks improved to 11-7 overall and 6-1 in Eastern Plains 2-A Conference play. North Lenoir visits Goldsboro on Tuesday.

* Volleyball: Ayden-Grifton d. North Duplin 25-14, 14-25, 25-18 -- Tearra Ammons recorded 12 kills, three digs, two blocks and an ace for the Rebels. Ansley Hill and Hanna Brock each finished with three aces. Skylar McCarty added two aces and two digs and Alonna Pate chipped in four aces, three kills and two digs.

* Volleyball: Rosewood d. Spring Creek 25-18, 25-13 -- Chelsea Sawkiw finished with four assists for the Eagles and Rachyle McAlduff had four assists and an ace. Megann Tyndall provided two kills and two aces and Rachel Kornegay added two kills. Kerri Jo Gurley contributed two kills and two aces and Laura Vinson had a kill. Rosewood (7-7, 3-4 Carolina 1-A) travels to North Duplin on Tuesday.

* Volleyball: Eastern Wayne d. Wilson Beddingfield 25-5, 25-20 -- Megan Smith and Jasmine Benjamin each had five aces for the Warriors. Elizabeth Audelo added five aces and Lura Hulse contributed five kills. Eastern Wayne (5-7, 2-5 ECC) travels to Southern Wayne on Monday.

* Soccer: Wayne Country Day d. Eastern Wayne Middle 5-2 -- Ryan Jackson and Jack Langston both scored twice for the Chargers. Cody Neal also added a goal. Wayne Country Day (1-10) visits Ridgecroft tonight.

Middle schools

* Football: Norwayne 28, Mount Olive 0 -- A.J. Mundle and Cody Garris each scored a pair of touchdowns for Norwayne. Adam Pate added 80 yards passing. Norwayne (3-1) has a bye before hosting Dillard.

* Football: Grantham 46, Rosewood 8 -- Tori Carmichael had a 30-yard rushing touchdown and a 30-yard interception return for a score for Grantham. Ivy Strickland tacked on a 40-yard score and two two-point conversions. Tyler Kornegay provided a 20-yard touchdown pass. Strickland recorded eight tackles on defense and Hunter Graham recovered a fumble. Grantham (2-1, 1-0 Div. 2) hosts Eastern Wayne next Thursday.

* Football: Brogden 20, Greenwood 8 -- Ronell Outlaw had a two touchdown runs, threw a touchdown pass and also made an interception for Brogden. Deonta Hayes gained 95 yards on the ground and Kris Wilder hauled in a 50-yard touchdown pass. Tyree Manley forced a fumble and made six tackles. Khalid Owens recovered a fumble and had six tackles. Jamaal George also had six stops. Brogden (2-2, 1-0) hosts Spring Creek next Thursday. Jalan Sprool scored a touchdown for Greenwood and Julius Murphy had an interception.

* Volleyball: Norwayne d. Mount Olive 25-16, 25-9, 25-21 -- Regan Herndon recorded 12 points on serve and Madison Mercer added seven. Norwayne improved to 6-0 overall and 3-1 in conference play.

* Volleyball: Rosewood d. Grantham 25-17, 25-19, 23-25, 25-11 -- Scout Anderson had 14 aces and Holly Heath had 11 aces for Rosewood. The Eagles (5-0) travel to Norwayne on Tuesday.

* Soccer: Norwayne d. Mount Olive 5-0 -- Juan Pina and Timothy Naughton each scored twice and had an assist. Collin Zacharzuk added a goal.
