MISENHEIMER -- Defensive specialist Mallory Peavler climbed into second place in the Mount Olive College volleyball record book, but the Trojans dropped a doubleheader Sunday afternoon.
Peavler notched 15 digs in a 25-20, 25-12, 25-15 loss to Puerto Rico-Mayaguez at Pfeiffer University. A senior libero from Illinois, Peavler leap-frogged over former teammate Nikki Murphy into second place all-time with 1,331 digs.
The school record is 1,503 digs held by Sam Mitchell, who is a 2008 NCAA Woman of the Year finalist.
Alicia Mote paced the Trojans with 20 kills in a 14-25, 25-13, 21-25, 25-16, 15-13 loss to Conference Carolinas rival Pfeiffer University. Racey Bartley added a double-double -- 19 kills, 10 blocks.
Kailey Preece matched her career high with five service aces.
Mount Olive (6-11 overall, 2-2 CC) visits league foe Coker (S.C.) College on Tuesday.
Women's soccer
HARROGATE, Tenn. -- Mount Olive College goal keeper Lyndsey McIntyre recorded 11 saves, including a penalty kick, but reginally-ranked Lincoln Memorial (Tenn.) claimed a 3-0 decision Sunday afternoon in women's soccer.
The Railsplitters (5-1-1 overall) collected goals in the 39th, 72nd and 87th minutes.
The Trojans (2-8-0) nearly evened the match early in the second half on two corner kicks. However, LMU goal keeper Courtney Hollis stopped Lyndsay Brennan's shot in the 60th minute.
Mount Olive returns home Wednesday for a Conference Carolinas contest against Barton College. Kickoff is 4 p.m. at Amon Field.
