CALYPSO -- North Duplin's midseason slide continued with a 20-6, non-conference loss to Hobbton at H.E. Grubbs Field.

It was the Rebels' fourth consecutive loss.

Akeem Cox accounted for North Duplin's lone score, a 70-yard touchdown gallop in the third quarter. Cox finished with 146 yards on 21 carries.

"Akeem is a great runner for us and we need to do a better job of blocking for him all the way around," said North Duplin head coach Hugh Martin. "We used some different formations, some two-back sets, and we tried to take some pressure off of him."

North Duplin's defense couldn't prevent Hobbton from collecting the game-clinching touchdown.

"I don't think it's a question of focus," said Martin. "I think we have been doing some good things in practice and now we just need to get things to click on Friday night.

North Duplin (2-4 overall) begins defense of its Class 1-A Carolina Conference title Oct. 10 at North Johnston.
