LaGRANGE -- Defending Class 2-A Eastern Plains Conference volleyball champion North Lenoir hammered Farmville Central 25-12, 25-18, 25-18 at Wooten Gymnasium.
Jordan Hudson handed out a match-high 31 assists for the Hawks, who remained unbeaten in 16 outings this season. Kristen Davenport supplied 11 kills.
Marissa Lanier contributed nine kills.
The Hawks (6-0 EPC) play host to Southern Wayne on Monday.
Chargers dominate
Wayne Country Day knocked off Coastal Plains Independent 1-A Conference opponent Greenfield 25-8, 25-18, 25-6 on Thursday afternoon.
Bridgette Briggs led the Chargers with 16 assists, eight kills, three blocks and two service aces. Brooke Norris added 11 kills, six assists, three aces and two digs. Kim Martell had eight aces, seven kills, one assists and one dig.
Jessica Lewis tallied eight kills and three aces.
Wayne Country Day (13-2 overall, 5-0 CPIC) visits league opponent Faith Christian of Rocky Mount on Tuesday.
Eagles grounded
FAYETTEVILLE -- Hanna Kaler dished out 15 assists as Wayne Christian lost to perennial Class 2-A power Fayetteville Christian 25-21, 25-9, 25-23 in non-conference volleyball action Thursday afternoon.
Fayetteville reached the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association tournament semifinals in 2007.
Kaler provided six service aces and Crissi Brogneaux contributed five aces. Summer Brathwaite delivered four kills, while Katie Daniels added seven kills.
Devan Isenhower contributed six kills.
The Eagles (11-5 overall) entertain Carolina Christian 1-A Conference foe Northwood Temple today at Clifford Gymnatorium. It is the final regular-season home game for Wayne Christian seniors Daniels and Allison Rose.
First serve is 5 p.m.
Panthers claw Rebels
CALYPSO -- League-leading North Johnston dealt North Duplin a 26-24, 22-25, 25-19, 25-20 loss in Carolina 1-A Conference play Thursday afternoon.
Sam Cates contributed seven assists, three service aces and two kills for the Rebels. Felicia Lynch chipped in six aces and two assists, and Scarlett Martin had five kills and two aces.
North Duplin (5-5, 3-3 Carolina 1-A) welcomes Princeton on Tuesday.
The Panthers improved to 5-1 in the league.
Cross country
Rams split
LaGRANGE -- Greene Central captured the girls' portion of an Eastern Plains 2-A Conference tri-meet with North Lenoir and North Pitt on Thursday.
The Rams had six runners finish in the top 10 and earned a team score of 20. Mackenzie Moore, Skyler Whitfield, Laura Coats, Samantha Taylor, Sarah Peacock and Samantha Robart finished fourth through ninth, respectively, for Greene Central.
Meredith Smith was the Hawks' lone runner to record a top-10 finish as North Lenoir tallied 40 team points. North Pitt did not field enough runners to earn a team score.
Will Crandell was the Rams' top runner in the boys' race with a sixth-place time of 20 minutes, 32 seconds. Teammate Trent Murray was seventh in 20:53.
North Pitt placed five runners in the top 10 and compiled 20 points to Greene Central's 49 and North Lenoir was third with 62 points.
Zack Beard and Andy Leonard each finished in the top 10 for the Hawks.

* Volleyball: North Lenoir d. Farmville Central 22-25, 25-7, 25-19 -- The Hawks improved to 9-6 overall and 5-0 in Eastern Plains 2-A Conference play.
* Volleyball: North Johnston d. North Duplin 25-22, 21-25, 25-6 -- Ansley Hill passed out three assists for the Rebels and Jessica Jones had three digs and one kill. Alonna Pate and Tearra Ammons each recorded two kills and a service ace.
