GREENVILLE -- Wayne Country Day held Oakwood without a shot on goal and freshman Ryan Jackson scored twice in Wayne Country Day's 3-0 victory on Tuesday afternoon.

Jackson scored in the 25th minute on a cross from Johnny Gallman. Jack Langston pushed the margin to 2-0 in the 46th minute on an assist from Cody Neal.

Jackson struck again in the 77th minute on Neal's second assist of the game.

The Chargers (6-11-1 overall) improved to 2-4 in Class 1-A Coastal Plains Independent Conference play. They play host to state-ranked Kerr-Vance on Friday.

Eagles blanked

RALEIGH -- Wayne Christian struggled to generate offense in a 4-0 loss to Carolina Christian 1-A Conference foe Trinity Christian of Raleigh on Tuesday.

The Eagles visit Fayetteville Christian on Thursday.

Volleyball

Hawks still perfect

SNOW HILL -- North Lenoir continued its undefeated season with a 25-23, 25-13, 23-25, 25-13 victory over Eastern Plains 2-A Conference opponent Greene Central.

Marissa Lanier hammered out 13 kills and Jessica Kennedy added 10 digs for the Hawks. Courtney Hill provided nine kills and two blocks.

North Lenoir (14-0 overall, 5-0 EPC) hosts non-conference opponent South Lenoir at 5 p.m. today.

WCS rallies

Wayne Christian overcame an opening-game loss to defeat Trinity Christian 22-25, 28-26, 25-13, 25-17 in a Carolina Christian 1-A Conference match at Clifford Gymnatorium.

Katie Daniels compiled 15 kills and seven digs for the Eagles. Kaitlyn Kosuda added five kills and two blocks.

Devan Isenhower chipped in nine kills and Hanna Kaler handed out 28 assists to go with six aces. Britney O'Hara also had six aces.

The Eagles (11-4, 9-1 CCC) travel to Fayetteville Christian at 5 p.m. on Thursday.

EW gets first win

KINSTON -- Eastern Wayne earned its first win of the season on Tuesday with a 25-22, 25-23, 23-25, 25-16 decision over Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference foe Kinston.

Anna Hajjar and Megan Hruby each finished with nine kills for the Warriors. Emily Sparks contributed five kills.

Eastern Wayne travels to Southern Wayne on Thursday.

Eagles cage Dogs

PRINCETON -- Rosewood earned a 25-23, 14-25, 25-6, 25-16 triumph over Carolina 1-A Conference archrival Princeton on Tuesday.

Paige Babb handed out 16 assists for the Eagles to go with two digs and a service ace. Jennifer Hall finished with five assists, five digs and a kill. Brittney Cabala added eight digs and two kills and Taylor Johnson pitched in 14 kills, six blocks, six digs and two aces.

Erin Shultz led the Bulldogs with 17 assists and Ashley Braswell provided seven kills, four aces, two digs and an assist. Amber Wood contributed five digs and Brittany Baker added four kills.

Princeton (8-3 overall, 2-2 Carolina 1-A) entertains Spring Creek on Thursday.

Rosewood (5-6) improved to 2-3 in the conference.

Chargers chop Oakwood

GREENVILLE -- Wayne Country Day downed Oakwood 25-12, 25-17, 25-22 on the Coastal Plains Independent 1-A Conference scene Tuesday.

Bridgette Briggs led the way with 12 kills, 10 assists, and eight service aces. Brooke Norris tallied seven assists, four kills, three blocks, two aces and a dig. Jessica Lewis had seven aces, four kills and three blocks.

The Chargers (12-2 overall, 4-0 CPIC) host Greenfield on Thursday.

CBA rolls

DUDLEY -- Charles B. Aycock turned back Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference foe Southern Wayne 25-27, 25-23, 25-21 on Tuesday.

Brittany Jackson recorded 14 kills for the Golden Falcons and Beth Carter added nine kills. Camille Williams and Cara Frederick each finished with six kills.

Aycock (5-6 overall, 3-2 ECC) travels to Wilson Beddingfield on Thursday.

Tennis

EW stops Hunt

Eastern Wayne recorded an 8-1 victory over Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference foe Wilson Hunt on Tuesday.

Danielle Daniel, Lindsey Frederick, Molly Musgrave, Kelsi Yates and Miller Delbridge were each singles winners for the Warriors.

The doubles pairs of Frederick-Musgrave, Daniel-Yates and Elizabeth Borden-Emily Northington were also victorious.

Eastern Wayne entertains Wilson Beddingfield on Thursday.

CBA sinks Vikings

PIKEVILLE -- Charles B. Aycock eased past Kinston 9-0 in Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference play on Tuesday.

Ashley Howell, Kristen Fischer, Hollie Baker, Harlie Howard, Amanda Farmer and Alexia Torres each recorded singles victories for the Golden Falcons.

The doubles pairs of Fischer-Baker, Howell-Howard and Nicole Kessler-Alicia Sodoma were winners as well.

Aycock (7-4, 6-1 ECC) visits Wilson Hunt today.

Rams ground Hawks

LaGRANGE -- Greene Central dominated Eastern Plains 2-A foe North Lenoir 9-0 on Tuesday.

Elizabeth McLawhorn, Lauren Carraway, Samantha Taylor, Jessica Gray, Abby Sugg and Megan Gleespen all picked up singles victories for the Rams. Sugg remained unbeaten in 15 singles matches this season.

The doubles teams of McLawhorn-Carraway, Taylor-Sugg and Gray-Dail were also winners.

Greene Central host No. 4-ranked Edenton Holmes today.

"We were lucky to escape with a 5-4 win at Edenton a few weeks ago," Rams head coach Donald Clark said. "I know we will have to play well to win. It's always exciting for the girls to be involved in matches like this."

Panthers pounce Rebels

KENLY -- North Duplin was dealt an 8-1 Carolina/Super Six 1-A Conference loss at the hands of North Johnston on Tuesday.

Nicki Goodman earned the Rebels' lone victory of the day with a singles win.

North Duplin (2-4 overall) plays host to conference foe Spring Creek today on the Mount Olive College courts.

JV sports

* Volleyball: North Duplin d. Spring Creek 28-26, 25-14 -- Tearra Ammons led the Rebels (4-5, 2-3 Carolina 1-A) with five kills, three digs and an ace. Jessica Jones contributed three kills, two blocks and an ace and Kristen Martin turned in three aces. Kelsey Rogers paced the Gators with seven kills.

* Volleyball: C.B. Aycock d. Southern Wayne 25-21, 25-9 -- Connor Davis posted a team-high five kills and had 10 points on serve. Ivy Hartzell provided four kills. The Golden Falcons (7-3 overall, 3-2 Eastern Carolina 3-A) visit Wilson Beddingfield on Thursday.
