ROCKY POINT -- James Kenan jumped out to a 13-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back as it defeated Heide Trask 26-14 on Thursday.
The Tigers opened the scoring on Jamar Rogers' first of two touchdown runs. The senior did not have to carry the load for the Tigers, only toting the ball three times for 16 yards, but did find the end zone twice.
Five minutes later it was Alex Monk's turn to run to paydirt. The senior plunged in from one yard out to extend the lead to 13-0.
On the evening, James Kenan racked up 151 yards on the ground. Quarterback Shawon Darden kept the Titans' defense honest and Tigers' offense balanced 158 yards passing.
Through three games, Darden leads area signal callers with 492 passing yards and seven touchdowns.
James Kenan (3-0 overall) will host Pender on Friday in a rematch of last season's 1-AA state playoff semifinal-round game.
