Princeton High graduate Scott Woodard fired an even-par 72 and emerged one of five Mount Olive College golfers to make the cut in the U.S. Amateur Sectional Qualifying at Walnut Creek Country Club.

Joining Woodard are Trojan teammates Jonathan Greene, Johan Hagsund, Clark Rose and Eric Williams.

Three qualifiers and two alternates will be determined after today's final 18 holes. The U.S. Amateur Championship is Aug. 18-24 at Pinehurst.

Woodard played both the front and back nine at 36 and is five strokes behind first-day leader Ted Seagroves of Chapel Hill. Greene is tied for 15th at 1-over 73, while Rose is tied for 23rd.

Hagsund and Williams each fired a 75 and are tied for 30th.

Woodard, Greene and Rose return to the Mount Olive men's golf team in the fall. Moberg graduated in May and is enrolled at graduate school at Duke University. Hagsund is returning home to Sweden for his final two years of college. Williams, an incoming freshman, signed a national letter-of-intent to play basketball at Mount Olive.
