DUDLEY -- Keenan Wynn delivered a game-winning, bases-loaded single in the eighth inning to score Corey Howell and lift Wayne County South to a 3-2 victory over North Lenoir on Tuesday night.

Jordan Williams paced the Wayne County offense with a 2-for-4 performance at the plate. Dwayne Gurganus, Scott Holloman (RBI), Cody Richards and Jordan Hood each collected hits.

Richards got the start on the mound allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits with four strikeouts and no walks in six innings of work. Raymond Valzquez tossed two no-hit innings of relief while striking out three to earn the win.

At Deep Run, Will Broadwell pitched his way out of early trouble and eventually found his groove as Wayne County South topped South Lenoir 12-2 on Monday evening.

With the bases loaded and nobody out in the bottom of the first inning, Broadwell recorded a pair of strikeouts and a putout to keep the teams even on the scoreboard.

Broadwell tallied seven strikeouts and scattered eight hits in five-plus innings of work.

Kevin Wise paced Wayne County South at the plate with three hits, including a double and three RBI. Scott Holloman and Matt Neal each added multi-hit games in the victory.

Wayne County South (8-1 overall) entertains Farmville at 7 p.m. on Thursday.

WC North victorious

Jordan Quinn tossed a complete game, and Colton Fulghum and Josh Frederick each had two hits as Wayne County North downed Beaufort 5-2 on Tuesday evening.

John Taylor (two RBI) and Michael Fiels (RBI) both added doubles.

Wayne County North (7-5 overall) plays host to D.H. Conley at 7 p.m. on Thursday.

Babe Ruth

Princeton tops Goldsboro

PRINCETON -- Michael Radford pounded out two hits as Princeton handed Goldsboro a 12-5 defeat in Babe Ruth 16-18-year-old action Monday evening.

Robert McCullen and Donald Lewis paced Goldsboro's offense with two hits apiece. McCullen and Chris Manning each doubled.

Goldsboro fell to 0-3 overall.
