K-Tribe rally late to down Salem

The Kinston Indians earned their 11th comeback win of the year, and their third win in a row, beating the Salem Avalanche, 3-2, in the opener of a three game series on Monday night in Virginia. The K-Tribe bats couldn't solve Salem starter Erick Abreu until the seventh when Alex Castillo and Jerad Head had run-scoring singles to tie the score at two. Jason Denham was cut down at the plate to end the seventh, but came up in a big way when he hit the game-winning single in the ninth inning plating Nick Weglarz.

The Avalanche got to starter Josh Tomlin early with two straight hits to lead off the game and scoring in the first on a sacrifice fly. Tomlin settled down, however, striking out seven, tying a season high, and allowing a run in the fifth without a ball leaving the infield.
