George, Bogle, Wilson have record-setting days

GREENSBORO -- Charles B. Aycock pole vaulter Cameron George ended his prep career in record-setting fashion Friday afternoon.

George recorded a personal-best and school-record vault of 13 feet in the N.C. High School Athletic Association Class 3-A track and field championships at N.C. A&T State University.

A senior, George recorded his personal best (12 feet, 7 inches) during the season-ending Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference meet. He claimed the regional title the following week.

Teammate Edmond Miller took 12th in the event.

Class 1-A

Princeton's Jania Bogle emerged victorious in the 100- and 200-meter dashes, and took second in the long jump during the NCHSAA 1-A track and field championships at N.C.A&T.

Bogle ran the 100 in 12.47 seconds and the 200 in 25.30. She walked away with MVP honors.

Spring Creek's Melanique DeVeaux was 10th overall in the high jump, while Rosewood senior Olivia Neal placed fourth in the pole vault.

Princeton grabbed 10th overall in the team competition with 28 points. Nearly 40 teams scored at least one point in the day-long meet.

On the boys' side, Princeton's T.J. Wilson claimed the state title in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 38.86 seconds. He finished fourth in the 110-meter hurdles and ended up 10th in the long jump.

Fellow Bulldog Decardo Cole took 12th in the triple jump.

Princeton tallied 25 points, good enough for 10th place in the team-title chase.
