WILMINGTON -- Eastern Wayne pounded out 16 hits en route to an 8-5, non-conference win at New Hanover on Tuesday.

Nolan Lancaster was 4-for-5 with three RBI for the Warriors. Jeff Hill went 2-for-4 with a home run and Walker Gourley, John Wooten, Tyler Wicks and Jose Ponce each had two hits.

Lancaster recorded the win on the mound allowing three runs (all earned) on four hits with five strikeouts and three walks. Michael Mintz worked a scoreless inning of relief. John Wooten allowed one two runs (one earned) on one hit with one strikeout in one inning of work.

Eastern Wayne (18-5 overall) will host either Southern Wayne or Kinston at 7 p.m. on Thursday in the semifinals of the Class 3-A Eastern Carolina Conference tournament.

NL pounds GHS

Carter Capps and Benji Harris both finished with four hits and North Lenoir eased past Goldsboro 22-0 on Tuesday.

Tyler Potter tossed a no-hitter for the Hawks.

Capps contributed four RBI and three runs scored. Harris had three RBI and two runs scored. Eric Hardy and C.C. Croom both tacked on three hits apiece, while John Alphin and Tyler Potter each had two hits.

With the win North Lenoir (16-1 overall) clinched the regular-season Eastern Plains 2-A Conference title with a 9-0 worksheet.

The Hawks host Greene Central on Friday and Goldsboro (0-14, 0-8 EPC) entertains North Pitt on Friday.

Gators fall to NJ

SEVEN SPRINGS -- Lee Coates picked up Spring Creek's lone hit in an 11-1, Carolina 1-A Conference loss to North Johnston on Tuesday evening.

Alex Casey walked and scored the Gators' only run. Kevin Prunest took the loss on the mound, allowing nine unearned runs.

Spring Creek (7-15 overall, 3-6 Carolina) travels to North Duplin on Thursday.

Softball

Rebels get win

North Duplin scored a run in four of seven innings and earned a 4-1, Carolina 1-A Conference win at Rosewood on Tuesday evening.

Jodie Williamson, Elizabeth Lane and Kristen Jones each contributed two hits and an RBI for the Rebels. Ashley Cartwright, Angelica Favela, Kailey Odom and Felicia Lynch also pitched in hits.

Jessica Pridgen allowed one unearned run on three hits with nine strikeouts and one walk over seven innings in the pitcher's circle.

"We played a very good defensive game with some of our younger players stepping up both offensively and defensively," said North Duplin head coach Heather Best.

Haile Meadows had two hits for Rosewood and also took the loss on the mound.

The Rebels (8-6 overall, 4-4 Carolina) host Spring Creek on Thursday while Rosewood (4-11, 3-5) visits Princeton on Friday.

GC cages Jags

FARMVILLE -- Shanna Parker was a home run shy of hitting for the cycle as Greene Central downed Farmville Central 6-0 in Eastern Plains 2-A Conference play on Tuesday.

Parker recorded a single, double and a triple. Megan Lovett also had three hits.

Liz Webb and Jessica Moore combined to toss a one-hitter.

Greene Central (13-7 overall, 7-1 EPC) hosts Goldsboro on Monday.

Panthers pound SC

SEVEN SPRINGS -- North Johnston handed Spring Creek an 11-1 loss on Tuesday.

Elizabeth Edwards tallied a hit and a run scored for the Gators. Stacy Lane added an RBI.

Elizabeth Edwards took the loss on the mound.

Spring Creek (1-15 overall, 0-8 Carolina) travels to North Duplin on Thursday.

Hawks cruise

Kayla Letchworth and Bethany Filipelli combined on a no-hitter and North Lenoir routed Goldsboro 16-0 in three innings on Tuesday.

Kristen Davenport was 2-for-3 with a pair of home runs and six RBI. Ashley Doughty went 3-for-3 with two RBI. Kendal Letchworth, Kayla Sutton, Amber Best and Filipelli each had two hits.

The Hawks (15-4 overall, 9-0 EPC) entertain Southern Wayne today and Goldsboro (0-11, 0-8) visits North Pitt on Thursday.

Faith edges Trinity

In its last tune-up before the N.C. Christian Schools Association Coastal 2-A regional tournament, Faith Christian outlasted Trinity-Greenville 4-3 on Tuesday.

Kaitlyn Floars recorded two hits for the Conquerors (9-3) and Jennifer Christopher, Lindsey Godwin and Rene Provencal each had hits.

Christopher recorded the win on the mound striking out six and walking two.

CBA outlasts Kinston

PIKEVILLE -- Charles B. Aycock didn't allow a shot on goal and Caroline Schlaeppi scored twice after regulation in a 2-0 overtime win the opening round of the Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference tournament on Tuesday night.

Jessica Price fed Schlaeppi for her first goal in the first overtime period. Schlaeppi scored unassisted in the second extra session.

The Golden Falcons (8-9-2 overall) visit top-seeded and regular-season champion Wilson Hunt today. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Golf

WCS unbeaten in CCC

RALEIGH -- Wayne Christian remained unbeaten in the Carolina Christian 1-A Conference after shooting a team score of 150 at Wildwood Greens Country Club.

Cape Fear Academy finished with a score of 158.

Eric Williams fired a 36 for the Eagles, followed by Taylor Gardner's 37 and Matt Davis' 38. Davis Taylor recorded a 39. Also participating for Wayne Christian were Hayden Gardner and Andrew Radford.

The Eagles return to the links on Thursday at Grove Country Club in Durham.
