WHITE LAKE -- Jonathan Greene tied for fifth in individual play and Mount Olive ended up eighth overall in the Carolina Sands Men's Golf Intercollegiate contested Sunday.

Tournament officials shortened the event to 18 holes due to Saturday's inclement weather.

Greene, a Wayne Christian graduate, recorded a 1-over par 71. He fired a 39 on the front nine, but recovered to shoot 4-under 32 on the back nine.

The Trojans' Pete Skirpstas tied for 19th with a 74. Mick Moberg (78) tied for 45th. Johan Hagsund (81) and Josh Harward (83) tied for 66th and 71st, respectively.

Mount Olive posted a four-player total of 304. Ten strokes separated the second- through eighth-place teams. Coker emerged the team champion with a 286.

The Trojans return to action April 20-22 for the season-ending Conference Carolinas Championships at Winston-Salem.

Softball

ANDERSON -- Conference Carolinas member Anderson (S.C.) University dealt Mount Olive 3-0 and 4-0 losses on the softball diamond Sunday afternoon.

The Trojans (20-17 overall) extended their losing streak to four games and fell to 6-6 against conference opposition this season. The preseason pick to repeat as regular-season champion, Mount Olive is 3-8 since beating North Georgia on March 19.

Bailey Harrell led the Trojans with a 3-for-3 effort in the opener. Linda Tosh batted 2-for-3 in the nightcap.

Anna Turvin (7-9) suffered the mound loss in game one, while Jenny Jackson (13-8) endured the game two defeat.

Mount Olive visited league-leading Erskine (S.C.) for a doubleheader today.
