SALISBURY -- Former Wayne Christian standout Jonathan Greene is tied for fifth overall out of 45 golfers after opening-round play in the Chick-Fil-A Men's Golf Intercollegiate tournament.

Greene Central carded a 35 on the front nine and 38 on the back nine for a 1-over par 73. Charles B. Aycock graduate Ryan Campbell finished at 3-over par 75 after firing a 37 on the back nine.

Johan Hagsund (76) is tied for 15th. Mick Moberg (77) and freshman Clark Rose (83) are among the top 40.

Mount Olive logged a four-player total of 301 and trails tournament leader Catawba by six strokes. Lenoir-Rhyne is second overall and five strokes ahead of the Trojans.

The 36-hole tournament concludes today.

Women's golf

SALISBURY -- Kristin Moberg concluded opening-round play one stroke off the lead during the Chick-Fil-A Women's Golf Intercollegiate.

Moberg posted an 80 and was just one of three golfers to shoot 80 or lower. Kristen Freeman (91) is tied for 21st. Brooke Newell and Lindsey Becker ended the day tied for 25th and 39th, respectively.

The Trojans compiled a team score of 368 to tie with Queens.

Monroe honored

INDIANA, Pa. -- Mount Olive senior guard Lakeisha Monroe earned a spot on the 2008 All-East Region tournament team.

Monroe helped lead the eighth-seeded Trojans to their first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance and first-ever postseason victory in program history. Mount Olive concluded the year 21-11 overall after winning the Conference Carolinas tournament crown.

A transfer from Georgia State, Monroe is among 40 finalists nationwide for the WBCA State Farm Coaches' All-American Team. Monroe is a Daktronics second-team All-East Region selection and was named the MVP in the Conference Carolinas tournament.
