MISENHEIMER -- Jason Sherrer and Rich Racobaldo each provided a third-inning, two-RBI hit as No. 1-ranked Mount Olive stopped in-state rival Pfeiffer 6-1 on Monday afternoon.

The Trojans (23-1 overall) claimed their 21st consecutive victory and improved to 9-0 against Conference Carolinas opposition this season.

Pfeiffer (13-14, 4-8 CC) grabbed a 1-0 lead, which quickly disappeared in the second inning. Dylan Holton connected on a one-out single, took second on a balk and scored on Anthony Williams' two-out base knock.

Sherrer's two-RBI, bases-loaded single started the Trojans' third-inning uprising. Racobaldo doubled home Sherrer and Lovett, who walked earlier in the inning.

Two Pfeiffer errors accounted for Mount Olive's final run.

Trojan starter Michael Williams (5-0) surrendered one run on five hits and posted three strikeouts in a seven-inning stint. He triggered a 1-6-3, inning-ending double play in the sixth.

Todd Jeffreys supplied two innings of scoreless relief.

Mount Olive's pitching staff has thrown two shutouts and yielded just five runs in the last 41 innings.

Ranked No. 1 for the third consecutive week in the Collegiate Baseball and Ping top 30 polls, the Trojans entertain Bryant (R.I.) for a three-game series beginning Wednesday. The teams will play a twilight doubleheader on Wednesday and a single game Thursday.

Mount Olive resumes its Conference Carolinas schedule at home Saturday against archrival Barton. The doubleheader starts at noon. The teams will play a single game Sunday.

The Trojans have won 13 straight conference series and 43 of 47 games overall in league play since 2006.
