PRINCETON -- After an 0-2 start Princeton earned its first win of the season with a 4-3 victory over Midway on Tuesday.

Ryan Daughtry picked up win on the mound tossing four innings of scoreless baseball. Daughtry scattered four hits to go with three strikeouts and two walks.

Michael Radford went 2-for-3 for the Bulldogs with a double and an RBI. Benton Myers ended the day 2-for-3 with a run scored.

Chris Hinton pitched three innings for Princeton surrendering three runs on four hits while walking four and striking out three.

The Bulldogs (1-2 overall) travel to West Johnston on Saturday.

Softball

Raiders cage Dawgs

PRINCETON -- Midway tallied at least one run in five of seven innings and knocked off Princeton 7-0 on Tuesday afternoon.

Hannah Wood led the Dawgs' offense with two hits.

April Keene claimed the pitching loss, while Midway hurler Lauren Smith tossed a complete-game, three-hitter.

Princeton (2-2 overall) entertains Tarboro on March 10.

Golf

Walnut Creek LGA

Jewel Ivey was the play-of-the-day winner during the first tournament of the season at Walnut Creek Country Club.

Mary Morris claimed low gross, while Nancy Satterfield and Evelyn Rose shared low net honors. Josie Ottaviani captured low putts.

Middle schools

* Eastern Wayne baseball 20, Greenwood 0 -- The Warriors put the game out of reach with a third-inning, 12-run outburst. Benito Avila and Wes Capps provided two hits apiece for the Warriors. Eastern Wayne (1-0 overall) entertains Mount Olive on Thursday.

* Eastern Wayne softball 5, Greenwood 1 -- Haley Ginn threw the complete-game shutout. Erika Lee and Stephanie Smith each contributed two hits for the Warriors.
