WILSON -- Southern Wayne improved to 5-2 in Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference play with a 64-50 win at Wilson Beddingfield on Tuesday.

John Hart tallied 20 points and 13 rebounds. Javaris MacMillan contributed 13 points and eight boards. Kendrick Thompson added 10 points and rebounds.

Brandon Braswell scored 15 points for Beddingfield.

Southern Wayne (9-12 overall, 5-2 ECC) plays host to Kinston on Friday.

Golden Falcons fall

KINSTON -- Charles B. Aycock became the latest victim of state-ranked Kinston falling 78-39 on Tuesday.

David Gurganus led the Golden Falcons with 15 points and Jonathan Williams had six.

North Carolina recruit Reggie Bullock finished with 14 for Kinston.

Faith falters on road

RALEIGH -- Faith Christian concluded its regular season with an 81-73 loss at Neuse Christian on Tuesday.

Brad Floars' 25 points including seven 3's wasn't enough to lead the Conquerors to victory. Taylor Stocks pitched in 19 points and 10 assists. Jeremy Sandlin had 15 points and 12 rebounds.

Neuse's Jeremy Jones led all scorers with 28 points.

Faith (13-7 overall) will compete in the Coastal Region 2-A tournament Feb. 15-16.

Warriors struggle

WILSON -- Eastern Wayne watched a one-point, halftime deficit turn into a 71-50 lopsided loss at Wilson Hunt on Tuesday.

Jamere Thomas finished with 11 points for the Warriors (6-13 overall, 2-5 ECC). Daviyon Whisonant had 11 and Will White scored nine.

Eastern Wayne travels to Wilson Beddingfield on Friday.

Eagles fall short

KENLY -- Rosewood's upset bid of North Johnston fell just short in a 51-47 loss on Tuesday.

Stephen McIntyre supplied 18 points for the Eagles. Teammates Tyler Muntz and Holt Rains each pitched in eight.

The Eagles (6-12 overall, 2-5) visit Spring Creek on Friday.

Girls

Faith prevails

RALEIGH -- Behind 16 points from Lindsey Godwin and solid rebounding performances from Alyssa Hill and Madison Caudle, Faith Christian picked up a 38-31 win at Neuse Christian on Tuesday.

Hill pulled down 12 rebounds and scored eight points. Caudle had 10 boards and five points.

The Conquerors (11-6 overall, 6-2) will host the Coastal Region 2-A tournament Feb. 15-16.

Cougars triump

BETHEL -- Goldsboro claimed third place of the Eastern Plains 2-A Conference with a 47-42 win at North Pitt on Tuesday.

Ziarra McDuffie led the Cougars with 14 points, three blocks, five rebounds and three steals. Kianna Williams had 12 points and eight assists. Victoria Williams added nine points.

The Cougars (8-12 overall, 4-3 EPC) host North Lenoir on Friday.

Rams stopped

SNOW HILL -- Tarboro's dominance of the Eastern Plains 2-A Conference continued with a 39-35 win at Greene Central on Tuesday.

Dominique Graham paced the Rams with 11 points in defeat and Jocelyn Conner added five.

Greene Central (2-19 overall, 1-6 EPC) will host North Pitt on Friday.

Gators halted

AYDEN -- Outscored from start to finish, Spring Creek struggled to keep up in a 52-31 defeat at the hands of Ayden-Grifton on Tuesday.

Tasha Whitfield led the Gators attack with 10 points, Richelle Butler had eight and Shaquita Brooks contributed seven.

Spring Creek (3-13, 1-6 CC) entertains Rosewood on Friday.

CBA turned back

AYDEN -- Trailing by three entering the fourth quarter Charles B. Aycock was outscored 15-7 over the final eight minutes and suffered a 46-35 setback at Kinston on Tuesday.

Courtney Sheeks scored 11 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Golden Falcons (2-19 overall, 1-6 ECC). Chantel Gaines added nine points and Yolanda Pitt had seven.

Audriana Hall led Kinston with 11.

Aycock hosts Hunt on Friday for senior night.

Junior varsity

* Kinston boys 56, Charles B. Aycock 48 -- Molonza Hayes scored 13 points for the Golden Falcons (3-16, 2-5 ECC) and Shepard Whitfield added 11.

* Wayne Country Day boys 62, Kerr-Vance 47 -- Five different Chargers placed in double figures as Cameron Stone finished with 16 points, Stoan Stewart tallied 13 and Hil Tanner, Blake Marchese and Johnny Galman each had 10. The victory guarantees the Wayne Country Day (19-1, 6-0) a share of the Coastal Plains Independent Conference regular season championship and the Chargers can claim the title outright with a win over Greenfield on Friday.

* Greene Central boys 58, Tarboro 47 -- William Bynum and Radamez Green each scored 13 for the Rams. Greene Central (8-11, 4-3 EPC) visits North Pitt on Friday.
