WINTERVILLE -- Seven Charles B. Aycock wrestlers logged unbeaten records during a dual-team wrestling meet contested at South Central High School.

Drake Gurley, Joseph Conner, Brandon Brailey, Kevin Carmel, Josh Grimes, Jarrett Covar and Khiry Reid each finished 5-0. Justin Farrell, who competes at 112 pounds, avenged losses to Vincent Webb of Wilson Fike and Jonathan Mills of South Central.

The Golden Falcons compiled a 5-0 worksheet with triumphs over Wilson Hunt (53-15), Northern Nash (52-11), Wilson Fike (78-0), D.H. Conley (67-12) and South Central (46-18).

"This was our best performance of the season individually, and especially as a team," said Aycock head coach Mark Bass. "We wrestled smart in each match, and gave up very few points throughout the event. That is paramount in being a good dual team."

C.B. Aycock (20-5 overall) notched its third consecutive 20-win season in program history and returns home Wednesday for a crucial contest against archrival Eastern Wayne. The victor seizes the Class 3-A Eastern Carolina Conference regular-season championship and the No. 1 seed for the N.C. High School Athletic Association dual-team playoffs.

"We still have work to do and room for improvement to complete the goals this has set for itself," said Bass. "We hope to use the positive momentum gained and the continued hard work in the (practice) room as a catalyst for the remainder of the season."
