Rosewood recorded six pins in 12 contested matches and received two forfeits during a 48-32 victory over the Ayden-Grifton wrestling team Thursday evening.

The Eagles' Jake Smith (119 pounds) earned his first-ever varsity win on the mat. Olivia Neal (103), J.D. Baker (130), Josh Holmes (145), Brandon Dean (189) and heavyweight Trevor Morris also pinned their respective opponents.

Ryan Cosgrove (125) and Scott Pate (135) each received a forfeit.

Ayden-Grifton triumphed in six individual matches.

Rosewood (8-8 overall) visits Overhills High on Jan. 3.

Princeton reaches finals

ROBERSONVILLE -- Ryan Daughtry tied a career-high with 37 points and Princeton advanced to the finals of the Roanoke Christmas Invitational with a 59-40 win over Jamesville on Thursday night.

The Bulldogs (9-2) will face Roanoke tonight at 8:30 in the championship game. Princeton and Roanoke have met the previous two seasons for the tournament title, with the Redskins winning both meetings.

Benton Myers finished with nine points for Princeton and Chris Hinton added seven points and seven rebounds.

ND cruises past Union

CALYPSO -- Appearing to have shaken off the effects of a late start to the season North Duplin rolled past Union 64-36 on Thursday night.

Chris Graham had 20 points, Terell Midyette tallied 11 and Quentin Graham had nine.

Larry George led Union with 18 points.

The Rebels (2-1 overall) travel to Lakewood on Wednesday.

Rams fall to Fike

WILSON -- Greene Central couldn't get past Wilson Fike in the Wilson Daily Times Classic on Thursday, falling 57-36.

Shonice Pettaway finished with 21 points, Tete Pettaway had five and Tia Jones added four.

The Rams (1-12 overall) host Ayden-Grifton on Jan. 4.

Rebels stumble

CALYPSO -- North Duplin failed to place a scorer in double figures and suffered its first loss of the season in a 51-19 rout on Thursday evening at the hands of visiting Union.

Jodie Williamson led the Rebels' attack with nine points. Heather Hudson and Rebecca Coats each added three points.

Courtney Graham led Union with 13 points.

North Duplin (1-2 overall) visits Lakewood on Wednesday.
