PRINCETON -- The Charles B. Aycock wrestling team prevailed in 10 of 13 contested matches, and earned 11 wins overall, in a 62-15 non-conference victory over Princeton on Wednesday evening.
Nick Bentley (103 pounds), Drake Gurley (119), Joseph Conner (125), Jacob Marple (135), Kevin Carmel (140), Josh Grimes (171), Bryan Diorio (189) and heavyweight Khiry Reid each pinned their respective opponent.
Brandon Bailey (130) scored a technical fall, while Jarrett Covar squeezed out a 6-0 decision against Princeton 215-pounder Josh Williford. Justin Farrell, who wrestles at 112, received a forfeit for the Golden Falcons.
Princeton picked up wins from Josh Best (145), Patrick Woodard (152) and Zack Stevens (160). Best and Woodard each recorded a third-period pin, while Stevens edged Freddie Coley 5-3.

Aycock boys stumble on road
PINETOPS -- Charles B. Aycock struggled to slow down Eugene Jenkins, who scored a game-high 27 points, and the Golden Falcons fell 71-47 at SouthWest Edgecombe on Wednesday night.
Khendra Reid scored 12 points for Aycock. Devon Newsome and Jonathan Williams each had six points apiece, and David Gurganus added five.
The Golden Falcons (2-5) visit Goldsboro on Friday.
Eagles top Hobbton
HOBBTON -- Stephen McIntyre and Tyler Muntz both scored in double-figures, as Rosewood downed Hobbton 59-49 on Wednesday.
McIntyre finished with 18 points, and Muntz pitched in 17.
Joseph Williams and Michael Williams each scored 12 points for Hobbton.
Rosewood (2-1) goes to Wayne Country Day on Friday.
Golden Falcons fall in girls' game
PINETOPS -- C.B. Aycock's Chantel Gaines poured in a game-high 20 points, but didn't receive any offensive support in a 63-30, non-conference loss against SouthWest Edgecombe on Wednesday evening.
Four other Golden Falcons combined for 10 points.
C.B. Aycock (1-6 overall) is the guest of Goldsboro on Friday.
Saints outlast Northside
JACKSONVILLE -- Southern Wayne picked up a 56-39 win at Jacksonville Northside on Tuesday night.
Lynnesha Leonard led the Saints attack with 20 points, to go with six steals. Brianna Lofton finished with 12 points, and Kayla Powell had 10. Lofton also had seven rebounds, six steals and three blocks.
Danielle Adams scored 11 points for Jacksonville.
Southern Wayne (3-1) travels to New Hanover tonight.

*SouthWest Edgecombe boys 45, Charles B. Aycock 35 -- Sheppard Whitfield led the Golden Faclons (1-4) with 12 points and eight rebounds. RaJohn Ormond added 11 points and seven rebounds. Aycock pays a visit to Goldsboro on Friday.
