RALEIGH -- Ryan Daughtry's 3-pointer with 0.9 seconds remaining lifted Princeton to a 32-29 win at Raleigh Charter on Tuesday night.
Daughtery finished with a team-high 11 points for the Bulldogs (2-1 overall). Josh Barefoot scored eight points, Benton Myers had five and Will Gainey added three.
Princeton travels to the Eastern N.C. School for the Deaf on Tuesday.
Eagles win big
Eric Williams scored 23 points to go along with 15 rebounds and six assists, as Wayne Christian routed visiting Faith Christian of Rocky Mount 61-41 on Tuesday night.
Matt Davis added 21 points for the Eages (2-2), and Adam Brannan finished with nine points and five assists.
Wayne Christian hosts Bethel Christian in non-conference play next Tuesday.
Warriors drop opener
WINTERVILLE -- Eastern Wayne suffered a season opening setback in the form a 64-58 loss at South Central on Tuesday night.
Will White scored a team-high 16 points for the Warriors (0-1). Cody Kirkum finished with 10.
Qwan Nobles led South Central with 22.
Eastern Wayne hosts Wilson Fike next Tuesday.
Girls basketball
Faith stops WCS
Wayne Christian fell to 2-2 on the season with a 45-35 loss to Faith Christian of Rocky Mount on Tuesday night.
Hanna Kaler led the Eagles with 10 points. Brittany Sullivan and Hope Wright each scored nine, and Jennifer Price added four.
The Eagles host Bethel Christian on Tuesday.
Warriors fall short
WINTERVILLE -- Brittani Billups scored 32 points, pulled down 16 rebounds and had 10 blocks, but it wasn't enough as Eastern Wayne fell 60-53 at South Central on Tuesday night.
Jazmine Reid finished with eight points, and Ebony Reid had four points, nine rebounds, eight steals and eight assists.
Kelsey McCorkel and Jasmine Bryant each scored 11 points for South Central (2-0).
Eastern Wayne hosts Wilson Fike on Tuesday.
JV girls
Heartbreaker for WCS
Faith Christian of Rocky Mount handed Wayne Christian a dissapointing 24-23 loss on Tuesday night.
Charity Wright finished with a team-high 15 points for the Eagles (1-1). Kayla Kennedy and Devan Isenhower each had three points.
EW off to good start
Eastern Wayne began its season with a 54-35 win over visiting South Central on Tuesday.
Maurriel Baker led the Warriors with 19 points, and Oteria Dortch added 15.
Eastern Wayne (1-0) travels to Wilson Fike on Tuesday.
