Council and Coley lead Goldsboro past North Pitt

BETHEL -- Backfield mates Anthony Council and Hykeem Coley carried their "thunder and lightning" act to North Pitt on Friday evening, and scorched the North Pitt defense for a combined 488 yards.

Council and Coley each found the end zone on four occasions as Goldsboro rolled to a 60-12 victory at E.R. McNair Field. The Cougars (8-3 overall) completed a perfect 5-0 campaign in Class 2-A Eastern Plains Conference action.

Council amassed a staggering 314 yards rushing on just 16 carries, including touchdown runs of 53, 37, 84 and 38 yards. Coley supplied 174 yards on 11 totes, including scoring runs of 6, 30, 32 and 32 yards.

The Cougars piled up 549 yards rushing in the regular-season finale for both teams.

Goldsboro's defense accounted for eight points. Andrew Phifer recorded a first-quarter safety, while Enrique Moses returned an interception 8 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter.

The Panthers (1-4 EPC) managed just 240 yards of total offense.
