Unbeaten Keenan routs Union

WARSAW -- Three players each rushed for 100 yards or more as unbeaten James Kenan pummeled Class 1-A Super Six Conference foe Union 40-13 on a soggy Friday evening at Bill Taylor Field.

The Tigers (10-0 overall, 4-0 SS) claimed their 21st consecutive regular-season victory heading into next week's home finale against county archrival Wallace-Rose Hill. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Brandon Satchell emerged Kenan's top rusher with 157 yards on 15 carries, including a second-quarter, 38-yard touchdown run. Stedman Mathis punished the Spartan defense for 117 yards on just five totes. He collected three, second-quarter scores on runs of 9, 62 and 40 yards.

Darius Heslip contributed a career-best 113 yards on 11 rushes.

Quarterback Shawn Jones provided Kenan's first touchdown -- a 21-yard run in the opening quarter. It was Jones' lone carry of the game.

Overall, seven Tigers combined for 433 yards on the ground.

Kenan's defense yielded 239 yards on 48 offensive plays. Jamar Rogers had eight tackles and six assists. Josh Hicks contributed seven tackles and eight assists.

Derrick Barden supplied three tackles and a team-high 10 assists. Alex Monk recorded six tackles and six assists.
