DUDLEY -- Charles B. Aycock completed a perfect 10-0 run through the Class 3-A Eastern Carolina Conference with 8-0 win at Southern Wayne on Wednesday evening.

The Golden Falcons bolted out to a 4-0 halftime lead and cruised the rest of the evening.

Jorge Delgado, Thomas Oliver and Tucker Pearson all scored two goals apiece. David Burke and Andrew Musselman tallied the remaining two scores for Aycock.

Tyler Ruffin assisted on four of the goals, while Pearson had two assists. Oliver and Alex Rodriguez had one assist.

Brandon Davis recorded the shutout in goal, facing just three shots and making one save.

Aycock, now 15-2-1 overall, will play in the ECC tournament this Monday.

Vikings stun Warriors

KINSTON -- The Eastern Wayne Warriors were tripped up in their regular season finale, losing 2-1 at Kinston.

Eastern Wayne finished the regular season 7-10 overall and an even 5-5 in the Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference. The Warriors will be seeded third in the ECC tournament and face Southern Wayne on Saturday.

Wednesday night, Muhammed Ali's goal in the 49th minute lifted the Vikings past the Warriors.

Tyler Weeks had given Kinston a 1-0 first-half advantage before Werner Wooten's goal in the 35th minute tied the contest.

The Warriors lost despite outshooting Kinston 12-7.

Hawks tie for league crown

SNOW HILL -- North Lenoir claimed a share of the Eastern Plains 2-A Conference regular season title by defeating Greene Central 4-0 on Wednesday.

North Lenoir tied with Greene Central and Tarboro with conference records of 8-2.

Jamie Ellison opened the scoring for the Hawks when he score off a pass from Nick Wallace to make it 1-0.

In the second half, North Lenoir got two goals from C.C. Croom to go ahead 3-0. Will Norville later found Hugo Garcia for the final goal of the night.

Bryce Grady recorded the shutout in goal for the Hawks as he made 25 saves against the Rams.

North Lenoir (12-7-3) will be the No. 1 seed in the EPC tournament thanks to winning the coin flip to break the three-way tie. The Hawks will play their first game in the tournament at home on Oct. 23.

Volleyball

Hawks are EPC champs

LaGRANGE -- North Lenoir kept its perfect season intact with wins over Greene Central and Farmville Central to claim the Eastern Plains 2-A Conference tournament title.

The Hawks make quick work of the Rams winning 25-13, 25-12, 25-9.

Marissa Lanier had a team-high 18 kills while Conner Jordan and Kayla Sutton contributed nine and seven kills respectively.

Jordan Hudson added a game-high 40 assists to lead the Hawks.

In the championship game, North Lenoir again made quick work of the opposition. The Hawks beat Farmville Central 25-17, 25-8, 25-21 to claim the EPC title.

Hudson again had a strong game with her passes, recording 30 assists.

Jordan led North Lenoir with 10 kills and six blocks while Sutton had six kills and six blocks.

North Lenoir improves its unblemished record to 21-0.

Gators drop title game

KENLY -- Spring Creek fell to North Johnston in the championship game of the Carolina 1-A Conference, 18-25, 25-23, 25-13, 25-15.

With the victory, North Johnston earned the No. 1 seed in the state playoffs.

Spring Creek will open state-playoff play on Saturday.

Cross Country

CC championship

SEVEN SPRINGS -- Justin Hicks of North Duplin and Elizabeth Baker from North Johnston prevailed in the Carolina 1-A Conference championship at Cliff of the Neuse State Park.

Spring Creek won the overall title with 29 points, besting North Duplin (49) and Princeton (53). Princeton was victorious for the girls defeating North Johnston 26-31.

Hicks led all runners with a time of 19 minutes, 21 seconds for the 3.1 mile course. Teammate Clint Bland was less than a minute behind at 20:05.

Spring Creek's Alex Casey was third at 20:29 followed by Princeton's Adam Peedin and John Kearney, both with times of 20:53.

Princeton's Olivia Booker placed third in the girl's race with an overall time of 24:59. The Rebels' Rocio Alvarado was fourth and Maegan Hewett of Princeton finished fifth.

Neuse River Youth Football

* Eastern Wayne 20, Princeton 15 -- Lee Daniels found Andrew McKeel for a touchdown pass on the game's opening drive to get Eastern Wayne rolling against Princeton. Devonte Corum and Jimmy Parks also had touchdowns for the Warriors. Defensively, Jay Whitaker recovered a fumble and Daryl Pittman had four solo tackles for Eastern Wayne.
