James Kenan spanks Ayden-Grifton

WARSAW -- Shawn Jones threw for two touchdowns and rushed for another score as James Kenan thrashed Ayden-Grifton 36-0 at Bill Taylor Field.
Leading 6-0 after Alex Monk's 20-yard touchdown fumble return, the "Jones Show" debuted in the second quarter. The senior quarterback fired an 8-yard scoring strike to fellow senior Kendal Jones at the 6-minute, 4-second mark.
Shawn added a 1-yard run just before halftime expired.
Defensive back Duan Alston started the second-half scoring with a 32-yard touchdown fumble return. Tony Jones snagged a 2-yard touchdown pass from Shawn Jones, giving the Tigers a commanding 33-0 lead after three quarters.
Jorge Vasquez booted a 29-yard field goal in the final period.
Jones finished with 113 yards passing on 13 of 19 attempts. Kendal and Tony Jones combined for seven receptions for 60 yards, while Darius Heslip hauled in two passes for 33 yards.
Brandon Satchell and Stedman Mathis led Kenan's rushing attack with 62 and 61 yards, respectively. The Tigers used eight backs, who accumulated 226 yards.
Kenan's defense recorded its second consecutive shutout. The Chargers, of the Class 1-A Carolina Conference, managed just 123 yards of total offense.
Monk emerged the Tigers' defensive leader with eight tackles, three assists and one fumble recovery. Linebacker Josh Hicks supplied six tackles, five assists and one fumble hit. Derrick Barden recorded two sacks, six tackles and three assists.
James Kenan (2-0 overall) entertains Heide Trask on Friday. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
