SEVEN SPRINGS -- Spring Creek took all three games from Midway as they won 25-17, 25-18 and 25-23 on Monday evening.

Kristin Smith recorded two aces and 11 kills while Brooke Albertson had six kills and eight assists to lead the Gators. Hanna Hall had a strong night serving for Spring Creek as she recorded four aces and one kill.

Spring Creek improves to 1-0 on the season and has a rematch on Thursday against the Raiders.

C.B. Aycock blasts Comets

PIKEVILLE -- Charles B. Aycock took all but one of its matches against Clayton in an 8-1 victory Monday afternoon.

Second-seeded Courtney Barnes defeated Clayton's Brie Singletary 8-2 to get the Golden Falcons going. Third-seeded Emilee Quinn shut out Candace Hammel 8-0.

Jessica Davis, Mallory Strickland and Kristen Fischer each posted a singles win for C.B. Aycock.

The Golden Falcons (1-0 overall) visit North Lenoir today.

N. Lenoir stomps arch rival

LaGRANGE -- C.C. Croom tallied two goals and Bryce Grady recorded six saves to help North Lenoir to a 4-1 win over county archrival South Lenoir on Monday evening.

Croom bookended the Hawks' goals as he scored 3 minutes, 19 seconds into the first half and later scored in the 65th minute.

Hugo Garcia and Cory Johnson also had goals for North Lenoir.

The Hawks (1-0 overall) travel to C.B. Aycock today.

Fike tops C.B. Aycock

PIKEVILLE -- Wilson Fike tallied four second-half goals and defeated Charles B. Aycock 5-2 on Monday afternoon.

Travis Musselman and Tyler Lynch each scored a goal for Aycock.

The Golden Falcons (0-1 overall) led 2-1 at halftime.

Warriors upend Hawks

LaGRANGE -- Eastern Wayne's top two seeds of Miller Delbridge and Warner Underwood propelled the Warriors to a 5-4 win over the North Lenoir varsity on Monday afternoon.

Delbridge bested Heather Phillips 8-3 while Underwood took care of Kristin Penuel 8-6.

Jordan Hoffman, Morgan Heath, Chastity Rouse and Megan Malpass were winners for Eastern Wayne.

Hoggard too much for GC

WILMINGTON -- The talent of Wilmington Hoggard proved too much for Greene Central as they fell 8-1 on Monday afternoon.

Evelyna Kliassov opened things with a hard fought, three-set win over the Rams' Casey Perry 3-6, 6-0, 1-0 (12-10).

Jessica Gray also had a strong match for the Rams, but fell 6-2, 6-4 to Erica Linett.

The tandem of Gray-Meredith Carraway later defeated Landis Matthews-Mary Ruden 8-5 in doubles for Greene Central's lone win.

"I was really impressed with the play of Jessica," said Greene Central coach Brad Sauls. "She played a very patient and aggressive double match. She's come a long way from last year."

Greene Central (0-1 overall) entertains C.B. Aycock on Thursday.

Raiders sweep Gators

SEVEN SPRINGS -- Spring Creek dropped a 25-8, 25-7 decision to Midway in both teams' season opener Monday afternoon.

The teams meet again Thursday in Spivey's Corner.

Shelly Leder emerged the game-of-the-week and low putts winner during weekly tournament play at Lane Tree Golf Course.

Rosemary Lutcavage came away with low putt honors.
