LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Lynchburg concluded its three-game sweep of Kinston with an 11-9 victory Sunday afternoon.

The Hillcats tallied at least one run from the second through the sixth inning and handed the K-Tribe their 18th defeat in second-half action this season. The three-game skid matches Kinston's longest losing streak of the year.

Josh Rodriguez's first-inning solo home run helped ignite the K-Tribe offense. Wes Hodges and newcomer Dustin Realini (2-for-4) each contributed an RBI hit in the third inning, while Mike Butia supplied a three-RBI double with the bases loaded.

Lynchburg pulled within 6-5 and tied the game at 7-7 in the fourth. The Hillcats collected four additional runs in the fifth and sixth innings.

Reliever Matt Meyer (2-3), who took the loss, yielded seven hits and four earned runs in 1-plus innings. Neil Wagner threw 22/3 innings of no-hit relief. Both appeared behind starter Steve Wright, who allowed five earned runs on eight hits in four innings.

Kinston begins a four-day, six-game series at home today against Salem. The Avalanche (24-22) have won six consecutive contests and trail the K-Tribe by 41/2 games in the Southern Division standings.

The doubleheader starts at 5 p.m.
