ZEBULON -- Chase Lambin crushed his 12th home run of the season and Carolina pounded out 11 hits in a 5-2 victory over Jacksonville at Five County Stadium.
The Mudcats tallied runs in each of the first three innings.
Lambin's round-tripper accounted for two first-inning runs. He added an RBI single in the third, which pushed Carolina's lead to 3-1. Brad Davis' RBI double capped the three-run, third-inning uprising.
Mudcats starter Blake McGinley picked up his fourth win on the season, going five innings while giving up two runs off just four hits, all doubles. McGinley played off the early two-run lead, giving up a pair of runs in the second and fifth inning.
Jesus Delgado, Scott Nestor, and Chris Mobley gave McGinley plenty of help in relief to preserve the lead. All three relievers combined for four innings of hitless baseball as Mobley picks up his team-leading seventh save on the year.
Carolina looks to take four out of five from the first place Suns tonight in the series finale. Jesus Silva (0-3, 9.17) will get the starting nod for Carolina as he opposes Zach Hammes (5-5, 3.80).
Silva started the season with High-A Jupiter before bouncing around between AAA Albuquerque and Carolina. Silva, making his fifth start for Carolina, has a 2007 total record of 5-7 with a 4.88 ERA.
Game time is 7:15 p.m.
