JACKSON, Tenn. -- Travis Chick threw six shutout innings against his former organization to lead West Tenn to a 5-1 victory over Carolina on Wednesday night at Pringles Park.

Chick (3-2), who was drafted in 2002 by Florida then traded to San Diego, struck out eight batters and walked only two as the Diamond Jaxx defeated the Mudcats in their first regular-season meeting.

Chris Seddon (4-6) permitted two runs (one earned) in his four-inning start. After a fielding error by Chase Lambin put on a baserunner in the first inning, three singles ensued to give West Tenn a 1-0 lead. A Seddon walk began the third inning, which was converted on a double by former Houston Astros outfielder Charlton Jimerson.

Craig Molldrem threw a scoreless fifth inning, then turned the ball over to Scott Tyler, who was making his first appearance since June 16th. Tyler, activated from the disabled list before the game, issued a pair of walks, which both scored. Blake McGinley, who was named Sunday's starter against the Diamond Jaxx, allowed a solo homer in his two-inning stint.

Southern League all-star MVP Lee Mitchell cracked the shutout in the ninth, homering against Mumba Rivera to lead off the frame, his career-best 17th. Mitchell also moved into a fifth place tie on the Mudcats career home run list, matching T.J. Staton with 28.
