Babe Ruth postponements

Late afternoon thunderstorms washed out second-day action in the Eastern N.C. Babe Ruth District 4 baseball tournaments at the Eastern Carolina Athletic Park on Tuesday.
On the 13-year-old scene, Wayne County (1-0) faces Wilson County in a winners' bracket contest at 6 p.m. The loser plays Princeton (0-1) in the elimination round at 8 p.m.
Wayne County's 13-15 squad owns a 1-0 advantage over Greene County in their best-of-three series. The teams play at 6 p.m. today with an "if" game scheduled 30 minutes after completion of the first contest.
Tickets purchased for the games will be honored at the gate today.
The Eastern N.C. Babe Ruth State softball tournaments, weather permitting, get underway today in Wilson County. The Wayne County 8U squad opposes New Bern at 6 p.m. on Field No. 2 at Lucama Elementary.
Two Wayne County teams are in action Thursday. The 12U Blue team faces Johnston County at 10 a.m., while the 12U Red team faces South Granville at noon. Both games will be played on Field No. 1 at Lucama Elementary.
The 18-year-old tournament kicks off Friday. Eastern Wayne takes on Pitt County at 9 p.m. on Field No. 1 at Lucama Elementary. South Wayne faces Carteret County at 9 a.m. Saturday on the same field.
Daily passes are $4 for adults, $2 for school-age children (5-18-years old) and free for children under 5 years old. Tournament passes are available for $15 (adult) and $7 (school-age children).
