KINSTON -- Every starter in the Kinston lineup contributed at least one hit in an 11-2 rout of Carolina League rival Lynchburg on Tuesday evening at historic Grainger Stadium.
The K-Tribe, which won for the 12th time their last 13 outings, moved within one victory of clinching the Southern Division first-half title. Max Ramirez, Chris Gimenez and Nathan Panther each provided a home run for Kinston, which pounded out 20 hits. Gimenez has a CL-leading 15 homers for the season.
Ramirez provided a two-run blast in the first inning. John Drennen (3-for-5, RBI) supplied an RBI single, while Josh Rodriguez drew a bases-loaded walk to put Kinston ahead 4-0.
Gimenez and Panther each homered in the second inning. Panther (4-for-4, four RBI) and Jose Constanza delivered RBI singles in the fourth.
K-Tribe left-hander Ryan Edell notched his team-leading seventh win. He fanned a season-high nine batters and yielded two earned runs in a five-inning stint.
Lynchburg's Kyle Bloom (6-5) lasted just two-thirds of an inning and took the loss.
With six games remaining in first-half play, Kinston and second-place Salem have key contests today. The K-Tribe plays a doubleheader against Lynchburg, while Salem and Myrtle Beach meet for two contests. A Salem loss gives the K-Tribe the first-half title outright.
Kinston's twinbill starts at 5 p.m.
