Chris De La Cruz's two-run single in the bottom of the seventh lifted Kinston to a 5-2 win over Myrtle Beach.

Kinston trailed 2-1 until the seventh inning when Wes Hodges led off with a single and later advanced to third base on two wild pitches.

Jerad Head walked with one out and later advanced to second on another wild pitch to set up the game winning hit by De La Cruz.

The Pelican's Nelson Payano (1-2) took the loss, giving up two hits, two earned runs and three wild pitches in his one inning of work.

Kinston would add some insurance in the eighth inning off of Pelicans reliever Sung Ki Jung.

Stephen Head took Jung's first pitch of the eighth inning over the wall in center field for his ninth home run of the year.

Chris Gimenez would follow the blast with a single, scoring Max Ramirez.

Sung-Wei Tseng (0-5) continues his rein as the unluckiest pitcher in the Carolina League as gets the no decision after allowing just two earned runs in five innings.

The K-Tribe has scored a total of 19 runs during the 65 innings Tseng has been on the mound this season.

Mike Finocchi (2-1) picked up the win, coming out of the bullpen for three shut-out innings of relief.

Scott Roehl closed out the game to record his 10th save of the year.

The K-Tribe improves to a Carolina League best 38-22 on the season and remains four games ahead of second place Salem in the Carolina League Southern Division.

Kinston wraps up the four-game series tomorrow at Grainger Stadium as Frank Herrmann will take the mound for the Indians with first pitch scheduled for 2 p.m.
